I posted earlier that if Will Middlebrooks didn't start hitting, the Sox did not have a backup. I was wrong....again. Garin Cecchini is tearing the league up in advanced A. He is a 22 year old third baseman in his third year of pro ball. Last year he it .305 with 51 stolen bases with Greenville in A ball and this year he is hitting .398. I think the Sox will be forced to move him up to Portland soon. I still think Will will come around but it's nice to have some depth.

Let's see...since April 25th he's batting .348 with two doubles and 1 HR. I think he's started to turn it around already.

First of all Middlebrooks will be fine and second there is no way the Sox bring up a kid from A ball even if he is hitting .500.

Dan, my suggestion was that they bring him up to Portland. He does look like a solid backup infielder in a year or two.
