I can handle the loss. I hate it, but I can handle it. What I can't take is the Seth $@#$ Davises of the world who are just dying for this to be the death-knell of the program.

It's not. If Lamb and Drummond leave, if Oriakhi goes, it's not over. Worst case scenario, it's not over. The program is not going away.

Wish everyone could shut up about it

Oh he went on about "Is this the end for Jim Calhoun?" and he's 70 and all sorts of facts that only Seth Davis knows and it's all over. It's not just him, he's just the one I saw.

Health will always be an issue, but in terms of energy and competitiveness...he could easily put in another 5 years

Just let us compete. Give us a shot to play in the tournament next year, which is more than fair, and almost all these worries disappear. We've replaced good players before.

Good question. After that season all we were talking about is how we whiffed on all the big-name recruits (Knight, Joseph) and how it was going to be Kemba and a bunch of nobodies.

Somebody should punch Steve Levy and Anderson in the dicks on ESPN, ending the show by saying college basketball is "a young man's game" after showing the Calhoun post game clip.

talking head morons

I HATE espn

I think they're self-conscious about being in CT and being perceived as homers, so they overcompensate in the other direction. Either that or they're all transplants who are sick of the locals talking UConn all the time.

The coaches of the last 3 ncaa champions were 59, 64, and 69 at the time....

What "young man" has won? I guess Roy Williams is the young man, that had to be what those imbeciles were referring too....

That just really just annoyed the crap out of me.

Is this doom and gloom worse than the 09-10 doom and gloom?

I think after the 2009-2010 season was much worse. I honestly couldn't think of a worse scenario than after that year. We had just had a terrible, underachieving season (where Calhoun also missed a lot of the season), lost 4 of our top 6, missed out on all our top recruiting targets, brought in an underwhelming recruiting class, and had NCAA sanctions looming over our heads.

I think we are in much better position now than we were then. Sure, it may be tough over the next couple of months with possible movements, but I'm confident that the program is still in pretty decent shape. I couldn't have said the same after 2010.

They just need to prove that they are the smartest guys in the world. Which of course they really aren't, and they know it, so they compensate by saying stupid "counterintuitive" stuff like UConn is in big trouble as a program (when they're not busy making super-awkward SAT jokes about the Harvard-Vandy matchup.)

These are the same idiots who spent 2 hours last Selection Sunday crying their eyes out because they didn't think VCU deserved to make the tournament.

I view the fact that they are predicting the downfall of UConn basketball as a very good sign for the future of the program.

Jay Bilas summed it up beautifully on Mike and Mike this morning. Calhoun isn't going anywhere, he will continue to coach, see the practice facility built, and oversee the transition to the next coach. He ain't going nowhere.

Bilas seems like he actually listens to what is being said by Calhoun and others around the program. The other talking heads say things that they seem to want to happen or they think should happen.

Calhoun is back for AT LEAST 2 more years (but 2 years only wouldn't surprise me). He wants to set this ship in the right direction, and he will. We really need to put next years APR ban to bed either way, as it leaves us in a kind of limbo recruiting wise.
