There were also local rules, like if you get the rebound close to the rim allowing one step to shoot a layup, or on rebounds going very long into the backcourt having some arbitrary distance as out of bounds so a shot was at least possible, or if the ball went out of bounds across the end line getting to take the shot from a step onto the court rather than right on the end line.
