St. John’s Soriano, UConn’s Clingan Earn MBB Honors
The men’s basketball weekly awards go to a pair of centers this week. St. John’s Joel Soriano had been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Connecticut’s Donovan Clingan has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Both players led their teams to tournament titles and 3-0 records for the week.
i love that this week's big east weekly release is littered with the names of power five and blue blood schools and then ed croswell's write-up is like, "providence did pretty good against merrimack and columbia" lol

oh yeah he has. SJU has not played the toughest competition, but he has slimmed down a little but maintained his strength and physicality and he has a much better shooting touch near the rim. He has been their best player so far.

Just to gush more. The way he is so comfortable in the high post is amazing for a young kid. He combines great hands and passing ability with subtle footwork that frees up those using him as a screen. There is no short way of going around him. And if they start cheating he can find the mismatch.

When Cam Whitmore comes back for Villanova he'll be tough competition. He's really good and Villanova needs him badly so he'll have ample opportunity to showcase himself.
