After leaving as President of U Miami she was heading up The Clinton Foundation. She collapsed last night at a Foundation function. Prognosis unknown but called "encouraging".
She played a mighty big role in the collapse of The Big East and the exclusion of UConn in the mix.
We wish her a speedy recovery.

Say what you want about her role at Miami, but Shalala was Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Clinton administration and has an admirable record of public service that dates back decades.

Hope she gets better soon.

She went to the U from Wisconsin where during her term Pat Richter made some GREAT hires (Barry Alvarez) and some tough decisions (cutting baseball)...Former SI reporter Rick Telander wrote a book about this period of time called From Red Ink to Roses

I hope she recovers quickly - lots of folks with strokes in my family, it ain't pleasant.

I also hope she becomes best known for playing a principle role in UConn focusing on and being admitted into the B1G because of the ACC snub, and we can all look back and say thank you.

Didn't she publicly vow that the U would never play a football game at the Rent after the BE lawsuit? One would think that Dick B. could have reached out to her through their shared political connections.

As a health professional, & having had family members afflicted with a stroke, I wish her full recovery. Miami was an outlier in the Big East, (Gavitt, Tranghese & Co. should have added FSU along with Miami for stability). Shalala was the face of the Big East's downfall, but its doom was inevitable.
