By comparison, here is the 2019 Team USA AmeriCup roster

AA004-F37-7-A99-44-A0-AF07-97899-D3-C2883.jpg

Looks like Team USA started Boston, Burton, Hillmon, Howard, and Miller.

21-15 USA with 1:08 left in first

Henderson 6 pts

A nice 22-6 2nd Quarter for USA puts them up with a decent cushion 47-23 at the halftime break.

Aliyah Boston leads the way with 8 points on 4-6 shooting, and is tied on the team lead with Diamond Miller and Rhyne Howard with 5 rebounds. Elissa Cunane is tied for 2nd in scoring with 6 pts on 3-4 shooting, 2 rebounds and leads the team with 3 steals. Destanni Henderson also has 6 pts off of two 3-pt shots and 1 assist.....

47-23 USA at the half

Looks like they’re really spreading the scoring around.

Boston 8 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk in 12:27

Looks to me US is not as coherent as Canada and maybe Brazil. Looking forward to a Canada US final.

Now opening up 9-0 to start the 3rd period. That's 31-6 since the end of the first quarter.....

A 20-2 3rd quarter for the United States gives them a 67-25 lead after 3 periods of play. The US is clearly dominating in the post with their size, scoring and rebounding. Cunane romped in the 3rd Qtr., and leads the team with 12 pts, and also 4 steals to go with 8 rebounds. Boston is 2nd with 10 pts, and team leading 9 rebounds. Sedona Prince just opened the 4th period with three straight baskets.....

United States win 102-39. The game was dominated with major games from the posts for USA: Aliyah Boston started it off with 10 pts on 4-7 shooting, with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a 1steal. Elissa Cunane then stepped in and scored 12 pts on 5-8 shooting, with 8 boards, and tie for team lead 4 steals. Sedona Prince then showed what she could do with 12 pts on 5-6 shooting, with 4 rebounds and 1 block.

But then as all the trees were plundering and pillaging, the smallest player on the team - PG Destanni Henderson - said "hold my (non-alcoholic) beer", and scores 17 points on 5-8 shooting, including 5-6 from the 3-pt line. She also added a team-leading 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block....

The starting 5 for the States only scored 37 points for the game, with Boston the only starter in double figures. Prolific scorers and starters Rhyne Howard (4 pts on 1-8 shooting) and Diamond Miller (8 pts on 2-8 shooting) struggled to get their games going.

But the reserves stormed the floor offensively, with Henderson, Cunane, and Prince all leading the way. With the all-reserve unit on the floor for the 4th quarter, the United States scored the most points (35) of any period, 10 pts more than the 1st qtr output.........

Nice summary. Destanni was on fire today. Changing teams Camilla has lots of tools to work with. She and Aliyah are very different players. LA also got extended time today in their game. She’s getting some great experience.

This was as competitive as UConn-Creighton.
You are correct but it was good to see them play against another team. The US is very, very good though.

They looked very coherent to me.

Doesn't pay to get voted most likely to be the top scorer - the two leaders in our poll, Howard and Jones, tied for lowest points tallied on Team USA. Onward!

(and I'm not having it from any American UConn fans who find themselves sympathetic to the Maple Leads just because that's the only team with one of their own. Turncoats!)

I think he meant to say cohoshes, or cohune, or perhaps cohobated......
No. But I put this up after seeing the first half only. I see they got their act together in the 2nd half

US 102 DR 39. Seems like the strategy is to get the ball into the bigs. Cunene, Boston, Prince, Hillmon with 42. Three pt shooting may be a problem except for Henderson’s 5 for 6.

With Dawn coaching, that is always the strategy.
