That 12:00 pm slot has some other great matchups to draw most eyeballs, but make no mistake. How the Big 12 discussions go on social media next week will take on a vastly different tone if we play hard and upset the Terps (or keep it close) than if we get creamed 42-6 and look inept doing it. Even our score move along the bottom of whatever screen they're watching will get either a wow--or a smirk.
This could be one of the more important opening games we've ever played in.

To me Evers getting the start was the biggest non-story out there. He pretty much had the job the day he signed. Mora and Co didn’t go out and recruit him and arrange NIL without being pretty sure he was the guy.

McCummings was the playmaker in that game, but I agree that Saturday's game is not a determining factor, especially when they won't be adding football until 2031.

Week 2 is actually a much bigger game, don't lose to Merrimack!

I am 100% behind this selection and frankly, the bar has been set low. We just need Evers to throw down field w/ accuracy, run the ball when he has to, and avoid too many turnovers.

Give us hope on 3rd down, that is all I ask for!

I have no way to judge whether this selection was the right choice or not. I am guessing that the coaches with their expertise (vast compared to mine) and the data they have in hand (infinite compared to mine) are well positioned to make the right choice. So I will be quaffing a cold brew and watching how it plays out. Thinking we might be in for another Illinois game but with a better result.

I like to think he could've been more successful. If the rules allowed him to, I don't know, maybe take bank shots off the stadium walls or something?

Trickshot came in for OT when the starter got hurt and threw a td pass. UL’s pass was picked off in the end zone. I think it was Teddy Bridgewater who played for the Cards.

Fagnano won the job out of camp last year. He got beat out this year, so we have to assume we’ll see an upgrade with Evers until we see otherwise.

Hopefully the OC change will help too (it can’t really hurt). Time will tell.

I think you misinterpreted his comment. What he said was, "After one play everyone's gonna know anyway." He was saying there's no reason to be coy about it, not that the decision could easily change.

Agree to a certain point - OL can break you, but it certianly doesn't MAKE you. an all-american OL with 5 Christian Haynes's can protect your QB but it won't create a competent offense. We've seen this before, with Zion Turner. Good line, bad offense due to severly limited QB play.

In short, The floor is OL play. The Ceiling is QB play.
