-> Evers, 6 feet 3 and 195, who came out of Flower Mound, Texas as a four-star prospect, first committed to Florida, switched to Oklahoma, then transferred to Wisconsin and, last spring, to UConn as a redshirt sophomore. He is beginning to look, at age 20, like a quarterback who just needed real reps, a chance to play, to develop, to make mistakes, such as an early fumble against FAU, and play through them.

This has always sounded like a good fit; Saturday night it looked like one. “This place was very unique for me,” Evers said, “because I had an opportunity to be a part of something transformational and, you know, we’ve got a lot of work we have to do every single week, but we’re surrounded by a great group of guys, a great coaching staff, something that really made me want to come here and leave my mark within the team.” <-

-> “I’m sure it feels good, but I don’t think Nick is the kind of guy who is going to bask in the glory of one win,” Mora said. “He’s pretty focused, he’s pretty hard on himself. I think he feel like there is a lot for him to prove. He’s got a little chip on his shoulder. I know for a fact he wants to improve in the passing game, and every day he stays after practice, works with receivers, with (quarterbacks coach) Brad Robbins, with (offensive coordinator) Gordie Sammis, He’s kind of relentless right now in his pursuit of being a good football player. There’s a real thirst to be the player people thought he was going to be coming out of high school.” <-

Impressive young man. I noted the media never asked him about how well the O line has progressed. The fact that with Ben Murawski out, Kyle Juergens and Brady Wayburn were impressive as fill-ins bodes well for both the running game and Nick's protection. Ultimately, that will be the key to whether the team is successful going forward.

"glimpses" is fair wording i guess, but that is the ceiling of what has been demonstrated, right now.

as others have stated on the BY, i haven't seen anything (yet) that a Pindell couldn't do.
I'll take the rush yards thankyaverymuch, but all i've ever wanted was a blue chip passer, who throws lasers with conviction and accuracy. I'll trade legs for that, ANY day.

this is what was needed to beat a P4 program, and we will need it again soon against WF and Syracuse.

Nick's running the RPO last night was better than I have seen at Uconn in many years. It was often very hard to tell who had the ball on many plays. Florida Atlantic's defense seem confused on many plays.
Bit more from Nick Evers on RPO prep on tonight’s Coach’s Show:

He should be doing more that that offensive line in front of him.

We better see some improvement in the passing game soon. Right now he is the weak link in the offense.
