God I hope Kentucky loses tomorrow or at the very least on Monday.

Really similar if Cuse had been in the final four. Two teams that were in the top 2-3 almost all year long. Similar win-loss records. One team is anointed, one team is neglected. The neglected team is deep and has great college talent with only a limited number of NBA players. The hyped team has all the big name sure fire NBA stars, but only goes 6-7 deep. The neglected team is from the BE. The BE team lost one of it's games without it's most impactful player.

Big difference is that 1999 UConn didn't crap the bed like Cuse did.

No. It would be sounding like '99 Duke if Syracuse still had Fab Melo and was in the Final Four. But the absurdity of '99 was that no matter how good Duke was on paper, UConn had played at basically the same level as Duke all season long. None of the other three Final Four teams this year has played at close to UK'ss level for the entire season.

Don't get me wrong -- I really hope Kentucky loses, but if it does it will be a far, far, far greater upset than us beating Duke in '99 was.

Sorry -- your post would have been fine but I was typing at the same time.

Historically this UK team isn't anywhere near as talented or good as 1999 Duke (or '99 us) IMO, it's just that college basketball is awful for the third straight year. The rest of the field is just blah this year, even Syracuse with Melo.
