We're gonna need two... I think WVA stays and Ville and Cincy go first.

East Carolina, Villanova seems intent on blocking Temple.

Therein lies the issue with remaining in the Big East... two teams that don't even compete in the football conference are allowed to hold sway over those who do. The Big East in its current truncated and even the proposed final form is an abomination that should be ended for football. The football schools are best served by being in a conference that takes into account the interests of all member schools and all conference sponsored sports. The Big East is not that conference and that has become clear to anyone looking at the various proposals.

Maybe the best decision is to not do anything until next year when the league can bring Comast and their money into the discussion. At that point they will tell us how to proceed. Syracuse and Pitt aren't going anywhere for two years.

I believe (shy of some ridiculous departure fees, which A&M and likely Missouri are willing to pay) that in order to get schools into the league in time (they will have to play football for the BE in 2013 or we can be stripped of conference stature in 2014) they will need to inform their current conferences by June 2012. The end of ESPN's exclusivity on our contract doesn't end until four plus months later. This would be a risky ploy and could possibly cost the conference (or some individual schools) the additional revenue this ploy was designed to generate.

We can get information (as vague generalities) from experts on what proposed pricing models should look like under different membership scenarios. If we haven't already assembled this information (solicited from independent contractors and compared to what BE staff has assembled), we are even more inept than we've been accused of being,

They have 27 months to work out the Philly situation. Mt best guess is they play with 14, Nova starts their upgrade process, and its Nova when the time comes. If Nova backs down its Temple

I think that the only way we end up with Temple is if there is a split (and as there have been rumors that losing anyone else will trigger the catholics to force a split, this could well be why the Philly situation is still in limbo) and they become part of an all sports conference (CUSA plus with a near BE name).

That conference will have USF, UCF, SMU, Houston, Temple, whoever from the current BE (USF already accounted for) that doesn't land elsewhere and a few additional members as needed. The first four can build themselves to the point where each more often than not wll be ranked an on rare occasion one may hit the top ten. If the first five mentioned schools fill out a conference it could be pretty solid. If they are the leaders of the conference, it would take decades to be considered major and may not ever get there.

Careful what you ask for. Temple just got beat by Bowling Green - a mediocre MAC team.

If WVU and Louisville leave it makes more sense for UConn to be a football only in the BE and join the Catholic Conference in all sports. The CC will keep the basketball tourney and autobid. The BE can have the football bid and the rest of their dreck
