We know they're close, and Boat has said something to the effect of "we came in together, we're going to go out together".

Does DD leaving UConn make it more likely that Boat does the same?

No hopefully not. Daniels will be a top 20-lottery pick IMO. Then bazz will go ahead of him with other players. Boat comes back and puts up bazz numbers

I think we won't hear until the last possible minute. Daniels has an easier choice bc he should be selected somewhere. Boat is a questionable pick in either round. However, Boats family could probably use the money and even a 6 figure contract overseas is better than nothing.

Boat will be the unquestioned leader next year and face of the team. No better way to raise your stock.

Boat has the most to gain by coming back, and with Daniels gone, it is definitely Boat's team and he will put up huge numbers. His family situation is the big question mark, otherwise I think he is returning.

It's weird to say after winning a National Championship but i almost think Boat will approach coming back as having some unfinished business… He's got a lot of pride & he wants a chance to show he can run the show & be the man, like Kemba & like Shabazz…

At least I hope so...

Boat should have an easy choice and it's coming back. To any people that say he isn't getting any bigger, well he can clearly get better. The team is his next season and proving he can run it effectively by tightening his overall point guard game and tightening up his he will be more desirable to NBA teams. He has dreamed about the NBA his whole life and the fact is there is a 0% chance of getting drafted first round this year.

I'm not so sure he can get better. Are you positive what we saw in the NCAAs isn't Boat at his best? He was hitting jumpers all over the court, finding the open man, beating pretty much everyone off the dribble, and playing phenomenal defense. Maybe he can put up better numbers this year, but not sure he's going to improve beyond what he did in the tournament.

Posters really don't get he's already proved doubters wrong . He ran ALOT of pg , his floor game was exceptional , AND he ended the year as one of if not the best on ball defender in NCAA .

If I posted a thread here in January saying that should be concerned about Boat and DeAndre leaving for the NBA by the end of the year I'm pretty sure I'd get totally on. Funny how the season rounded out, now look where we are.

I think Boat wants to be the man. He should be back.

@PIC_Colin You also realize Jim Calhoun is no longer at the helm, right?

@MarkRubano @ctkevb You are right -- that have "potential" bigs. None have proven anything yet. Still a major question mark right now.

Seriously??? @srfreeman25: @GoodmanESPN Ryan Boatright/DeAndre Daniels. Stay or go pro?

Yes. @davecantone1: @GoodmanESPN do you think DeAndre Daniels leaves?

Agreed. This "Boat needs to come back to prove he can run a team" stuff is at odds with what we just watched in the NCAA Tournament. The fact that we went on a ten point run w/ Bazz on the bench against 'Nova wasn't some act of God.

That was obviously good and needed, but it's like saying "I can run a marathon" because I ran a mile. It's not what was meant by "run a team".

That's true. But his point guard skills were on full display for pretty much the entire postseason. I have zero doubts in his ability to run a team if he decides to come back. And honestly, whether he can run a team or not, he isn't going in the first round because of his height. The only way Boat is going to make it in the NBA is by impressing people in summer league or working his way up the ladder in the D-League, senior year or not.

exactly. how MUCH could his stock even improve? he'll be a year older playing inferior competition, with questions about his stature still relevant.

But with the opportunity to put up huge numbers against that inferior competition. A year after winning the championship, as long as the team is doing OK, they'll be ranked most of the season, and they're going to get plenty of attention. I have to think that Boatright has an opportunity to put up 20+ppg next year, and to do it while being talked about all season.

As others have mentioned before the current pro comparison for Boat should be Nate Robinson. I think he can do everything Nate does but just doesn't have Nates physical (football player) strength yet. +Boats a better point guard and ball handler .The plot thickens!!
