Does anyone know who named Stewart 'Stewie'

Was that high school nickname or did someone on the team dub her that. That came up last night while we were watching the game, and I didn't know the answer. It's obvious enough name but it suits her well.

Dolson called her that when they played on USA Basketball together. I'm not sure if Stef was the first to use that nickname generally, but I think she was as far as the UConn team.

Seems like Dolson would be the biggest Family Guy fan. Just guessing though.

Don't think it was HS because I recall reading somewhere that she didn't particularly like it.

They called her "6-10" in international play. But I recently heard Geno call her "Stewie," so I guess it's caught on for good and expect she won't stew about it.

Thanks all. Dolson, or perhaps Doty, would have been my guess. Like many nicknames, I think it will grow on her over time.

I saw Breanna in an interview for the USA Team, and they asked her about her nicknames...she said "6-10" and explained where that came from, then added "Stewie"...the interviewer asked where that cam from and she made a little face and said Stephanie Dolson. My takeaway is that she wasn't thrilled...but somewhat resigned. Apparently it isn't going away anytime soon...

When I first heard that I was worried it would annoy her...from what I understand now, she has a great quirky personality and is probably giving as well as she gets from BigMomMastiff...and watching her play, I've come to realize the young lady is, as we used to say in Texas, "tough as a boot!"

On this particular team, Geno needs a moniker that audibly distinguishes her from Bria and Brianna. Any form of "Bree" would fail to do that.
