For the last 3 years, the NC had a transfer (or more) play a key role in their title.
2017 SC had those 2 guards whose name I forget
2018 ND Shepherd
2019 Bay Chloe Jackson

Will it continue this year?

UConn -- Evina (Tenn)
Baylor -- Carrington (Stan)

Indi -- Patberg (ND)
Ariz -- McDonald (Wash), Baptiste (VaT), Pellington (Okla), Yeaney (Indi)

Stan -- <none>
Lou -- Balogun (GaT), Dixon (GaT), K Smith (Cal)
Ore -- Sedona Prince (Tex)
Mo St -- <no key>

SC -- <none>
Md -- Mimi Collins (Tenn), Bibby (Miss St), Benzan (Harv)
GaT -- <no key transfers>
Tex -- Lambert (Duke)

Excellent point! Glad you pointed that out!! Indeed, had the NCAA not turned to their tried-and-true method of sticking it to Coach Geno, we would have had Evina last year.

Seems a whole LOT of transferring going on with top-talents, not just kids who couldn't get enough playing time where they started out.

Good catch!!

It is interesting and it has changed some of how a coach sees team building and recruiting. Usually coaches had to plan three four and five years in advance to make sure they were preparing for the players they were losing to graduation. And if they got the plan wrong, they were stuck for a few years until they could find the PG, or post, or whatever they had failed to get. Their only other solid 'other option' was to find a hidden gem at a Juco. Geno did that with Rita Williams, Pat did it with Bobbitt who saved her Parker years. Sometimes there might have been an interesting transfer, but they were rare and they sat out a year and most of them were trading down from a good team to a less good team. Finding a Brittany Hunter as a transfer was rare.

Now, there is a flood of top10/top20 recruits and coaches can shop for any missing piece or just an upgrade. And a lot of coaches are suddenly finding they are looking to replace their own recruits that are leaving.

Turning into the wild west - women are still staying in school longer than the men, but it is not dissimilar to a one and done mentatlity from a coaches standpoint.

Bendu Yeaney will be playing against her former team (Indiana) for a spot in the FF.

Our friends in Knoxville and South Bend, must love seeing Westbrook, Collins, Patberg, Nixon, and Boley playing big roles in the tournament. :)

So Vowelguy - are you trying to say SC has no chance at the NC because Dawn didn't go shopping for a transfer last year?;)
