Kershaw has some great numbers but he hasn't been reliable in the post-season. I think it is foolish to give any pitcher a seven-year deal and the pay per season is the highest in history for a pitcher. I guess the Dodgers wanted to lock him up before he became a free agent. Josh Beckett must be licking his chops.
Has any long term contract for pitchers that goes beyond 5 years ever worked out for the whole contract? Maybe but can't think of any off top of head...maybe Pedro?
