Do we (the fans) deserve another NCAA title this year?

It has been a weird year for me as a UConn fan. I love UConn basketball. I look forward to it all year. Maybe because we actually had a winter this year, it has seemed like an endless season. Something about watching their games this year has felt predominantly lacking. Frustrating, and not as fulfilling. It's at the level where if they actually pulled off another title run, I would feel as if my fandom was a disservice. I have not led with optimism, positivity, or hopeful for better future outcomes.
I'll say it. I've been a bad fan this year. Sorry Mr. Hurley, Mr. Benedict. I don't deserve joy this year. I'll do better.

I'm not going to address the spirit or letter of the question being posed, but this has been a very weird year, where a team that's been top 10 and a projected 2-seed or better wire to wire has, by and large for the last 3 months, been very laborious to watch.

What has kept me optimistic is the fact that we once again played fantastic in the non-conference against elite competition and likely go undefeated had Tarris and Braylon played against Arizona.

This isn't the first time we've struggled in the Big East against teams that know us in and out, so this isn't anything new and I still have faith in this team.

I'm 65 years old. I was at the Civic Center for the BET in 1982 when Perno allowed what should have been an insurmountable lead (nearly 20 points at halftime, no shot clock) melt away to a tie game that ended on a Chris Mullin buzzer beater.

I remember hoping that one day we'd reach the point where an NCAA bid would be something we could achieve four or five times each decade, with an occasional run to the sweet 16. Perhaps an elite eight run on very rare occasions, if luck would fall our way.

As far as deserves, as fans, we've seen more success than we deserve in a few lifetimes. We have been spoiled.

But I will quote William Munny:

Im always supportive. Because I love this team more than many of my own internal organs even though they too fail me at times.

But...

Judging by the regular season I don't think us, Dave, Dan and staff, the team etc. thinks we deserve it. If we win we'll take it.

That Shabazz championship and the Kemba championship are my 2 favorites. I LOVED 99 and 04, but those 2 take the cake for me.

Of course you say chocolate chip now. Then after a week or so when you get one chocolate chip cookie that crumbles, it will be Oatmeal Raisin. You will drone on and on of the virtues of the combination of oatmeal and raisin as if there could be no other cookie. And then the Snickerdoodle will come along. And you will forget all about your first love, the Chocolate Chip cookie.

And we will be subject to all of it.........
