Can't imagine what DJ and his mother must be going through, this is just horrible.

I was thinking earlier this morning.......and I'm guilty of making jokes and comments about Aaron over the last week.....but DJ from all accounts is a good guy. The only slip up was the stupid wrist band controversy that I didn't think was a big deal. He's one of our own. Maybe we should all temper our comments a bit on the whole situation. Just my 2 cents.

yeah. This is a tragedy all around.

Sad.

Pretty horrible situation all around (nor anything very appropriate to snicker about because of past history) - AH's still a Connecticut kid (Bristol), and DJ is indeed one of our own (UConn) - Aaron should get what's coming to him for what he's done, but his family deserves better than having to suffer through this ordeal. Not to mention the poor guy that got murdered and HIS family's anguish.

Indeed and the kids who looked up to Aaron as a role model especially the ones from Bristol, hope they are looking at DJ as a role model, and maybe if you wanna take some good out of a terrible situation, this situation can show kids how you are not above the law celebrity or not.

All I know is that if Dennis Hernandez hadn't died, this would have killed him. I live in Bristol and I hope that if Aaron did commit this crime that somewhere down the pike he is able on a supervised release or via videotape send a messge to the kids in town to not follow in his footsteps. Perhaps he may be able to make some good come out of this and atone in some small way for what he apparently has done.

. He should never speak to kids again. There is a post above about kids in Bristol looking up to DJ. That can't happen. Normal hard working folks like DJ can't be role models in this country anymore because we look to athletes and celebrities. It's a damn shame. We don't need to be sending messages to kid's that they should or shouldn't follow in the footsteps of celebrities. We need to be telling them they should be following in the footsteps of good hard working folks.

Obviously any list of victims in this tragedy has to begin with Odin Lloyd and his family, but not too far down the list is the kid who was born in November and now in all likelihood has to grow up without a father.

Hernandez signed a $40 million, five-year contract extension with the Patriots in August 2012. Torres, who grew up playing football himself and saw friends struggle to overcome racial prejudice in their quest to play professional football, said Hernandez should have used his wealth and influence to set an example for young players, instead of continuing to frequent strip clubs and associate with criminals.
"He made it, he did, come on man, give to the community, help your race out," Torres said. He listed several local services organizations that need help, and gestured up the street to a sign announcing the future home of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club.
"Why didn't he go to the Boys and Girls Club and help the kids?" Torres said. "Just a person who made it from this type of environment, to be successful. … Get yourself involved in the community, do things positive, say, 'I made it, you can make it too.'"

Obviously, the real victom here is Lloyd and his family. But I really hope this dosen't have a negative effect on DJ and his coaching career. The last few years he has been slowly working up the ranks and is now the TE coach in Iowa. I always hoped one day he could return to coach UConn, that would be a great story.

DJ conducted himself with class at UConn. He responded to adversity with resilience. They may be brothers but they are certainly very different people.
