Rebecca Lobo and Stephanie White each have an NCAA championship on their resume and have used their knowledge and experience to become two of the very best commentators and analysts of women’s basketball.

Top teams and players, rule changes, realignment and more, with two of my favorite analysts! (with of course some good UConn stuff, especially from Rebecca, including framing this year's team in a historical context).

Enjoy my Halloween treat to you!

Nice listen as always David.

Good insights into the upcoming season. I was a bit surprised by Rebecca's answer to your question about the regional sites. She is truly on the 'other side' now. Saying "the best team will win" ignores the significant home court advantage that is recognized by Sagarin and other statisticians. I understand Rebecca wants good tv... But at the expense of a level playing field????????

Really interesting thoughts from Lobo on the home court Regionals this year. A different perspective that I hadn't given that much credence to before.

I loved the "correction" about deferring by Graves, thought that was pretty funny. Graves just got raves from her USA coaches when they were on the podcast this summer.

If one team is far superior to another team, then home court advantage might have limited impact. However, when teams are closely matched then home court is a huge advantage. IMHO its more then just the crowd that is rooting on the home team. It the court, baskets and not having your players daily routine impacted like it is when you play on the road. IMHO Rebecca gave you the politically correct answer or one the NCAA wanted her to give.

I agree. Just familiarity with the court, shooting backgrounds, etc. (not to mention the crowd) has got to be worth 3 - 5 pts which is what Sagarin generally uses. For two evenly matched teams that is huge.

Is it a perfect scenario, obviously not. But it is not a perfect world. The reality is the best teams should be able to win and nothing about the NCAA tournament is inherently fair.

If the point is to grow the game then I don't have a problem rewarding the programs that have built a fanbase. Was it perfectly fair that a bunch of teams who lost to Gonzaga in recent years had to play there? No, but in my opinion Gonzaga earned that right by the way they have built their fanbase.
