Two sections in this week's podcast.
First, it's time for Play4Kay week and cancer awareness. Two segments here.
First, Tina Thornton is ESPN’s senior coordinating producer, responsible for coordination and coverage of events such as Play4Kay and the women’s NCAA tournament. I spoke to her in a very informative segment about everything from location selection, pairing and selection of announcing teams and production crews, how ESPN integrates their entire television family of networks plus ESPN.com and ESPNW into the events and more.
Duke forward Alison Vernerey is taking the cancer cause personally and really doing some impressive things. Graham Hays wrote about her today on ESPN, but she spoke to me and hear in her own words the impact she is making.
Back to the courts!
I hadn't caught up with UConn sophomore Stefanie Dolson yet this season, so it was fun to talk for a few mintues post game this past weekend and catch up on her season, changes, and having fun as a Husky. Always a good time talking to her.
Finally, I had a nice talk with USF head coach and HOF nominee Jennifer Azzi. The two years before Azzi was hired, the team went 7-22 and 5-27, so she is totally rebuilding, with 5 freshmen this year, and 5 more next year. Very interesting hearing how she is trying to change USF attitudes and get her team to take responsibility.
I hope you enjoy the podcast, and if you have the ability, please, support Play4Kay and donate to the Kay Yow Fund.
