In 1992, Seton Hall’s women’s basketball team started the season 5-0. At the same time, the current head coach of the Pirates, Tony Bozzella, began a head coaching career at Southampton College, a Division II school in New Jersey. After stops at Long Island University-Brooklyn and Iona, Bozzella returned to his alma mater in South Orange, NJ to take over as head coach.
That season twenty-three years ago was also the last time Seton Hall started off 5-0, until now. Last night’s road win at the University of Texas-Arlington gave the current version of Pirates five straight wins. On the heels of a 28-win season last year and an NCAA tournament win, Bozzella is proving that the Pirates are no one-year wonder and that Seton Hall is a program on the rise for years to come.
