Dirty Dancing

ok, it's 28 years later but last night I finally watched this film on Netflix. I was a little annoyed because I thought it was a period piece, but then they kept slipping mid-80s into it. It would have been more effective to really keep it tight in the early 60s. I always thought Jennifer Grey was girl-next-door hot, so it was easy to watch her. Is this considered a chick flick?

Dirty Dancing is definitely one of those movies where one day I'm going to be forced to watch it and suddenly a whole lot of references in other movies/shows are going to start making sense.
