Overall... Not much change from last time. I'm concerned about our shooting next year if our potential star PG is this bad from 3 point land. Defense looked a little better tonight, and his finishing at the rim was much better, even the more challenging finishes. Still a ridiculous passer and floor general.

At the risk of getting crushed for this, he's a good player but we're not talking about Cade Cunningham here. The current starting point guard is up near 40%. You envision Diggins starting at the point next year?

I'd imagine that he'll be in Gaffney's role these last few games behind Cole. "Star" was probably an exaggeration.

He’ll be behind Cole no doubt next year. No doubt. Gaffney and Diggins will compete for minutes, this will force Gaffney to be more assertive of the court.

He’ll be behind Cole no doubt next year. No doubt. Gaffney and Diggins will compete for minutes, this will force Gaffney to be more assertive of the court.

Agreed. I get a feeling Gaffney is too comfortable right now and a little fire behind him will give us the smooth-criminal he was in HS. We have a great class coming in so expect Hurley to push these guys to earn minutes kind of like this year but with above average IQ off the bench. God I’m happy to say that.

He’s generally not considered a bad shooter, it’s definitely not a strength but he can make an open shot. I don’t like how low his release is that doesn’t project well. If we go post grad or transfer with that last scholarship I do think we get another shooting guard though. We should carry 6 guards and shooting will be a little bit of a team weakness. Hawkins is also more of a wing than guard, that would leave BA as the only true shooting guard and he can’t shoot.

I mean the proof is in the pudding. He's 33% from 3 this season on 5 attempts a game in the 6 games I've seen this year. He objectively isn't a good shooter even at a lower level of competition.

I wouldn't categorize him as a non-shooter like Andre... but he's probably more Adams/Akok than Bouk/Polley right now. A lot can change by next November though.

You saw it in the 2nd half against Seton Hall.

Hurley is very insistent that his PG demonstrate leadership. I think this attribute will determine the size of Diggins role next year. How he runs the team and holds his teammates (and himself) accountable is the is the intangible that will set his playing time more so than numbers.

I know it was just a basic two handed dunk but he looked pretty bouncy on it, not just a rim grazer. That's good news, thought he was a pretty average to below average athlete before. If his 3pt shot is questionable it's a big deal that he seems like a plus athlete at least.
