He is a really fun player to watch. Absolutely dominant on D and he actually has a pretty decent offensive game especially with the addition of that 12 foot elbow jumper like adrien used to be automatic with his senior year

IF this manchild does not go pro he will devastate college hoops next year

He's basically followed Okafor's development with substantially less offense.

Really enjoyed watching him develop over the past few years.

Who has substantially less offense? I don't remember Emeka hitting a single 15 footer in his career, or putting the ball on the deck at the three point line and getting to the rim.

Okafor had a nice turnaround and a soft 10-12 ft bank shot his junior year. Prior to his junior year not much offense but became an above ave. scorer his 3rd season.

Someone send K. Facey some film of Dieng. I could see them being very similar players by Faceys junior year.

Check out:1:25 and 1:32. Also has a couple jumpers later on.

I remember him hitting a jumper quite often. He did have more O.

Actually, I am thinking more Amida... Both 6'11", both Centers, shotblockers, rebounders & energy guys. Obviously Amida needs to gain weight, muscle & some scoring outside of 5 feet, but based on how Deng came into Louisville, they are comparable.

If UConn ropes in Chukwu. Does UConn lead the nation in blocked shots again with Chukwu, Brimah & Facey? This sounds like a scary shotblocking line up. We just need to add a banger in with them. Abu???

Dieng has substantially less offense. I'm not talking about just jumpers or driving the ball.
Fr/So/Jr
Okafor 7.9pts/59%, 15.9/58%, 17.6/59.9%
Dieng 5.7pts/62%, 9.1/52.5%, 10.2/53.3%

I think Emeka was much better offensively than Dieng.

Dieng was pretty good hitting those jumpers last night, but he doesn't really have good post moves yet, not nearly like Emeka had. When Dieng gets the ball down low, he still doesn't have polished moves and often passes it out.

I think Dieng is more similar to Hasheem. I remember HT being pretty good at those 10-15 foot jumpers his last year.

Dieng certainly looks less awkward than HT, but they were more similar in their strengths than Dieng and Emeka.

But, I agree with the OP. Pitino has done a great job. Dieng seems like a great kid and he has obviously put in a lot of work.

Russ Smith and Dieng have both improved greatly. Gotta give Pitino and his coaching staff credit where its due.

IMO okafor possesses a nice jump hook GD doesn't, but boy I'm a fan of GD. he's a great shot blocker with a nicely developed jumpshot.hes also nearly a seven footer. Goes to show what 4 years will do

He's been at Louisville only 3 years & took part in Senior Night, so it sounds like he's graduating early. We had a shot blocking Center do that before!
