the special about Maya this morning? Just caught the end of it. The announcer said something to the effect that basketball fans needn't worry, that Maya would be back next year. Hope I heard it right.

I saw it. I was very proud of Maya for the help she is giving this (most likely) wrongly convicted felon. Maya showed us that there is more to life than just playing basketball.
