Several reporters have quoted HCBD as saying that the coaching staff is not 100% qualified to coach a spread offense. And yet those are the sets that we are currently seeing.

Clearly Warde hired a guy versed in B1G power formations but AD DB seems to have exerted some pressure toward the spread.

Who was it? Tennesee who gave up 450+ rushing yards and still won by a lot? The commentators were talking about how that illustrated how irrelevant the ground game has become in college FB.

I guess the question before the house is whether or not the coaching staff is a square peg in a round hole? Duh! But whose fault is that and what should be done?

Did he seriously say that? If so it explains a lot. It's not anything we didn't already know but the fact that he admits that is amazing.

He said it isn't in the "wheelhouse" of this coaching staff.

Yup... here is the actual quote:

>>Diaco said on multiple occasions Saturday that the Huskies “have good players” and that it’s not their fault.

He also said that the Huskies’ decision to change their offense slightly in mid-season and go away from tighter formations and pro-style sets to more of a spread look was hurt by the fact that its coaching staff wasn’t 100 percent qualified to handle that. “Now you start to change tactically to give the guys an opportunity, which then truth be told is a little outside the wheelhouse of the staff,” Diaco said. “It’s not really their expertise, spread offense.”<<

To me that looks like Bob manages by consensus and he was convinced it was the way to go... and he agreed. Maybe they shouldn't be taking all the BY suggestions to heart ;)

Well, give him a little credit. He clearly recognized what they were doing wasn't working and he had to try something else.
