Might have gone unnoticed in the excitement over Tennessee losing again. Purdue beat the Terps 75-65 in College Park.
Heavily commented on in the TN/Alabama thread.
I don't think any other conference has anywhere close to 9 teams in the RPI top 70.The Big 9. . . not a strong conference

The Big Ten might not end up with more than one hosting team, but they're gonna have a slew of teams seeded 5 through 11.
Not sure which site you're looking at. I'm counting seven top 70 teams in the Pac-12.And the BIG has two top twenty teams.
The PAC 12 has 5 top 20 teams and 8 top 70.

Where in the top 70 are you seeing a team with a losing record? Here is the site. The top 70 is a very low standard for strength of conference- there are teams with losing records it. I think top 70 is about the number of P5 teams, granted there are a few non P5 teams that are good.

As far as I can tell, the top 70 team with the worst record is Oklahoma, who at 13-12 is in the top 30 because their strength of schedule is so high.
Kentucky is 95. Iowa State 102. Not top 70.corrected link; The Jeff Sagarin/CBN Women's College Basketball Ratings | RPIRatings.com

Kentucky is 95. Iowa State 102. Not top 70.
The ACC has 9 in the top 70, and one team ranked 72nd. The B1G has 10 teams in the top 70, but perhaps it changed after you posted.I don't think any other conference has anywhere close to 9 teams in the RPI top 70.

Uh, okay.#57 and #68 on the Sagarin ratings

True indeed.
Technically a loss, I guess, but Maryland won the offensive boards big, won steals by wide margin, had fewer turnovers, shut Purdue down completely in the second quarter, and actually led into the fourth quarter, so it is least a 75 per cent win.Might have gone unnoticed in the excitement over Tennessee losing again. Your RPI comments are spot-on, although when I would (in a few years) try to guess who was in, I usually looked in the top 70 just in case there was someone that got in for "odd" reasons. Very few of the top 50 RPI teams will not get in, and very few over 50 by at-large selection.I hate making tables on this site but...

Obviously the RPI is not the be-all, end-all, but the hosting 16 will most likely come from the top 25. The at-large selections will probably come from the top 50, but teams 51-70 teams still have ~3 games and their conference tournaments to improve their resume.
I was struck by the similarity between the BE and the B12. Obvouisly the B12 has 2 very good teams (presently RPI 5th and 11th), but the lack of B12 depth surprised me.
