how close we were to backcourt on Roscoe's steal?

I just rewatched the clip on ESPN3. If he catches the ball a few inches farther away from the basket and passes back, they would have to call it and we'd probably lose the game. And it wouldn't even be Scoe's fault..that's an impossible judgment decision and of course you want to immediately get it in Boatright's hands.

Just another case of Scoe being in the right place at the right time.

I noticed that too. Roscoe was huge last night. Of course, he could of held onto the ball and waited for one of his gaurds or called a timeout.

Actually, it wasn't that close. To be backcourt, violation all of the player has to first be in the frontcourt, before he is established in the frontcourt and can't take the ball backcourt. Here, he was backpedaling. Had the planted foot's heel hit the line, the other foot would have last touched in the backcourt, and for purposes of the backcourt rule he would have never established frontcourt position and could therefore go backwards with it.

Ok, so he was maybe 2 feet away from being backcourt? I think my point remains that it was a fluky addition to a play that could have easily lost us the game.
