Rebecca and Pam Ward say that the UCONN/UNC series would not be renewed next season?

I thought I heard that, but my hearing isnt what it used to be, ;);)

Your hearing is fine....series will not be renewed. Maybe Sylvia has had enough of the double digits beat downs.

They also said she was very clear that she would have loved to continue the series, but apparently the Maryland series pre-empted the possibility of another UConn-UNC series for the time being. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me (i.e., why one would preclude the other), but that is what was said.

Yup - do you think North Carolina would mind too much?:)

Were they hinting at the fact that the Maryland game might be more competitive? I thought so.

It was Uconn's decision to dump the series once the Maryland series was scheduled - Geno didn't want to be playing three OOC games against the ACC - I think that makes sense. It might be renewed after the Maryland home and home. (So yes, UNC can now say that Uconn is ducking them!)

Or perhaps North Carolina has turned turtle.

Of course, if they whacked the Boston College AD, we would be playing everyone in the ACC!!

This makes sense. 3 OOC games with ACC teams seems too many considering how many OOC games Uconn is playing already Uconn has played 3 in the past (Florida State), but not with the existing and future scheduled games. . Many OOC games have to be scheduled to fit in with the BIg East games in Jan. and Feb. Uconn is scheduled to play the following next year: Duke, Md, Baylor, Stanford, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Oregon (to fit in with the Stanford away game).Early season games will include Hartford. Not a lot of room for UNC on next year's schedule.
