Right now, Diana Taurasi is averaging 18.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. She is shooting 48.4 percent from the floor (career high), 40.2 percent from three (close to her career high), and 92.1 percent from the free throw line (career high).
No player in WNBA history has had a 50/40/90 season. The closest were Penny Taylor in 2010 (50.9/44.2/89.3) and 2011 (51.1/40.2/87.4), Kara Lawson in 2012 (49/43/94), and Kristi Toliver in 2012 (49/42/90). Taurasi is well on her way toward a record-breaking season.
Also, no player has ever averaged 15 points/5 rebounds/5 assists per game. The closest were Cynthia Cooper in 1997 (22.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists) and Penny Taylor in 2010 (15.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists) and 2011 (16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists). With an increase in rebounding, Taurasi would be the first.
Only two players have ever averaged 20 points and 5 assists in the same season - Cynthia Cooper in 1999 (22.1 points, 5.0 assists) and Diana Taurasi, in 2013 (20.3 points, 6.2 assists). And Taurasi is, obviously, the only player to average 20 points and 6 assists per game over the course of a season. Side note...Skylar Diggins is on pace to join the 20/5 club this year, if she keeps up her season averages.
Looking deeper, only these players have ever averaged at least 18 points and 5 assists per season:
Cynthia Cooper (1999, 2000)
Becky Hammon (2007, 2009)
Cappie Pondexter (2009)
Penny Taylor (2010)
Diana Taurasi (2013; 2014, to date)
Skylar Diggins (2014, to date)
What stands out about the list is that Pondexter and Taylor achieved these numbers with Diana Taurasi as a teammate. Taurasi's numbers are coming this year (with Taylor, but not Pondexter, who was traded after 2009) and came last year (without Pondexter and with Taylor only playing 10 games).
