Does anyone have any details on DRob's status? He hasn't cut his list as far as I know, but he's had a crazy summer - getting up to number 24 on Scout. I think he could be a great add to the class, but of he waits any longer we might not have a spot left for him. Anyone know where we stand with him?

it will be interesting. With Larrier coming to visit next week, the dominoes could start falling. Maybe KO could spin it, but it looks like the first of the SF's to commit would probably send the other's looking elsewhere.

I agree. If Larrier commits, or even White who could play a 3 or stretch 4, Robinson will look elsewhere. Disappointing since he's easily the best out of all of them IMO.

We need players 200+ lbs in the paint! Robinson is 30 lbs from that. At least Larrier & Abu have some muscle to their game.

I thought Larrier weighed about 3 more pounds than Devin.

Robinson has a DeAndre Daniels body but plays like a true power forward except he can pop out and stroke it from 3 ... reminds me of a lanky Charlie Villanueva. I think he could allow us to go small against some teams and has more chemistry with our 3 guard line-ups than a true power forward.

I've seen Larrier from 200-21o lbs range.... I also saw that D.Robinson weighed in "officially" at a whooping 169 lbs this summer at the LeBron James Skills Academy, granted "without shoes".... but really some people are saying he's a PF. I don't get it. Even if he gains 30 lbs in a year, he'd still be a skinny PF. I'm not knocking D.Robinson, but he's not a PF in my opinion. He can shoot from the outside & has a little bit of a handle. He's got some very good skills. That is not a PF in my opinion, especially if he cannot defend down low.

247 Sports has him at 172, Scout at 185, but a few others have him at 200-205. I sure hope the 200-205 is correct. Scout has Devin Robinson at 180. I guess that we will have to trust that KO will be able to get good information.

That's a big range. Are any of those "official" weights or guesstimates? I'll take the official ones over the guesstimates, though some of them can be taken with a grain of salt. In reality, I love his game. I just cannot see Devin at PF. He seems like a great option at SF. Maybe if he gains lots of weight, he can play PF eventually. Heck, I could not gain weight til age 30, now I am saying "What ' happened".... LOL

They both look skinny to me, but 30 pounds would be a big difference if accurate. The discussion about who plays what position sounds to me like Boneyard speculation and may well have no relationship with how KO would think of using them. It would be fun to watch if we have lots of very athletic and tall wings on the team at the same time. This has been the most interesting recruiting season for me. I'm sure it's because of the great job KO and staff are doing as well as how easy it is now to watch multiple videos of these kids as well as read about them. I used to be skinny too, btw, until about age 30. Funny how that works.

In reality, no one knows what kind of team Ollie favors. Last year's team was what Ollie was handed to him. He did the best with what was dealt to him. Based on recruiting, he seems to be targeting size & skills. That's a big range, but a fun range. I love his enthusiasm & moxie. Should be fun to see how it works out.

PS - Get 2 puppies, it will help in the weight dept! I am learning once again, for better or for worse, so is my furniture! LOL

you can never know how to read the whole "who is recruiting who the hardest" angle, but here's a recent update and UConn wasn't mentioned as recruiting him hard "recently"

http://www.umhoops.com/2013/08/21/coach-devin-robinson-is-very-interested-in-michigan/

Thompson listed Notre Dame, Michigan, Louisville, Indiana, Oklahoma State and VCU as the schools who have been going after Devin the hardest recently. One aspect of Devin’s game they like is his versatility and his potential as an inside-out player.
“He’s a long, wiry forward,” Thompson said when describing Robinson’s game. “I think coaches see him as a three or a four with an ability to shoot the ball from deep and also he’s able to mix it up on the inside pretty well. Really good at bringing a lot of different skills to the table: rebounding, blocking shots. His potential is limitless and he’s got his best ball ahead of him.”

Can't believe that we would back off Robinson, this quote is surprising to me.

Mentioned this to others, but this slanted 'article' reads as if they went out of the way to not mention UCONN.

I'd agree with that. Will be tough to get both.
I would take any of them but I'm greedy I want Abu and either Robinson, Paul White or Larrier. Paul White is a stud too, think he is underrated right now because he plays with Okafor and he missed the entire summer with the broken arm, the kid is really talented, glad UConn is in it until the end with him.
