I'll need someone who watched from home to confirm this.

When Maryland called timeout on their 50 yard FG attempt that had no chance... It was to point out to tackle the guy fielding the ball in the end zone pretending to be Devin Hester right?

And even after the time out UConn tried to play that card to the tune of negative 30 yards?

Attention to detail versus Aw shucks what went wrong now. If I had a do-over I would have addressed that.

UMD saw it, made an in game adjustment, and we still trotted him out there?

I think the 4 year old sitting in front of me said "what the hell was that?"

I don't know if the TO was to adjust for the "return", but yeah, that looked like a planned play on our part. Or the player went rogue.

What's even funnier is someone heard play announcer Bob Picozzi say the offense would have started at the 20 if it was a missed field goal. Lots of idiocy at the Rent last night.

The was yet another example of our bonehead coaching translating to the field. If Mack just lets that ball bounce and roll out of the end zone, we get the ball on our 35 (or wherever the kick was) instead of the 10. I thought the decision to kick the field goal there was awful...I was 100% certain he was going to miss. But the decision from our coaching staff to one-up another coach's bad decision and make a worse decision by trotting Mack out there not once but twice, was beyond moronic. I think there were Terps on our 10 yard covering the kick by the time Mack caught the ball. Clearly the timeout was to prepare for the possibility of a return.

Anytime this coaching tries to think out off the box it is at the worst moment and in the worst way.

i was trying to figure out what was going on through the crappy espn3 feed, i thought the kicked was blocked as I couldn't see Mack standing in the end zone. I was wondering why the whole Maryland team was running down the field. I was more perplexed that no Uconn guy except mack was running. Total confusion..

The time out had to be to remind their players that there was the possibility of a return and that they had to cover it (unlike most FG attempts where shy of a block they can start walking off the field after it is kicked). We should have instructed (Mack I believe) that if they do cover the possible return, just let the ball hit the ground and walk away.

That play was so stupid, that live I initially thought some idiot had run onto the field to streak or something. I wonder if GDL whispered that in Paul's ear last night or something.
