It might be easy to look at her 2-12 three point shooting (16.6%) or being tied for 6th in scoring and say Maya Moore is playing poorly at the Olympics in Rio. But, that would ignore everything else Maya brings to the U.S. team. Consider her non-scoring stats.

1. Moore leads the team in rebounding with 30 in five games. :) That is more the 6'9"Griner, 6'6"Fowles, 6'4"Tina and 6'4" Stewie.
2. Her 22 assists are 2nd only to Sue Bird's 30. Most have come in the 1st half when games are more competitive.
3. Maya leads the team in steals with 13. Nobody else has double digits.
4. Her assist to turnover ratio is a hefty 3.14, again 2nd to Sue.
5. In 93 minutes of playing "in your face" defense, she has only 6 personal fouls.
6. By the way, Maya is shooting 56.3% from inside the arc and 100% from the free throw line.
7. Moore's 48 points, while 6th on the team, still averages 9.6 per game.

On a team full of superstars, Maya is doing everything else but scoring, to help bring home the Gold. :)
Go USA..!!

Maya is a player who can drop 40 on you. She's one of many superstars on this team. But in this Olympics she seems to be playing a Kelly Faris role. And it's contagious. When did we ever see Angel pass the ball so much?

I wonder where she is with minutes played. This is not about questioning Geno's rotation as I think he has done his usual great job. It just seems that Maya has been the odd person out in the 11 or 12 player subbing.

Plus, my guess is, it is easy to sit her because she never complains about PT.

Angel is playing mostly under control and is very effective.

As you note, Maya is doing everything well but shooting the three. She has tipped more passes and potential rebounds than anyone else on the team.

The shot attempts stat is interesting:

Maya 44
Tina 41
Dee 39 (20-33 from the arc!)
Brit 36
Angel 33
Catch has only 14, but everyone else is between 22 and 27

BTW, Dee has 58 career Olympic 3-pointers, which is the record.

I know this was probably meant as a joke, but ... Angel actual had 17 assists in the last Olympics. Her play for the NT has always been pretty special - she had a lousy WC in 2014 but 2012 and 2010 were really good. Instant energy off the bench and defensive intensity.

By the way - I don't think anyone mentioned but we had a Uconn NT moment in the previous game - for all of maybe 1 minute of game time Tina Maya Breanna up front and DT and Sue in the backcourt.

Thanks Milford. I was wrong about her minutes, right about Geno's rotation minutes.
