If this team is going to accomplish what any team with a defense this good should, then DeLeone must be let go, immediately.

Wont happen, but I cant say disagree with sentiment. We've already wasted one brilliant performance by the defense last week against NC State. That one still hurts.

Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see a thread like this the day after we stuck it up Randy's , but is it impossible to enjoy this win for some?

I'm not going to defend DeLeone. But I saw things on the OL to be encouraged with. Without our best lineman we got a much better push than the previous 2 games. And MD's front 7 is not bad. The play calling was frustrating but I'll take an ugly offensive performance for a win versus a shoot out loss. Seems like blasphemy to say that here.

We got the job done yesterday. Kids showed guts. And to think I was called out this week for being a negative Nancy.

Can't agree more......nice response to last week's loss.......Very happy with the win!

Good lord, if we had lost would you call for his immediate execution?

I'm not fan of the guy or his offense, but geeze I'm really enjoying the win.

I am also happy with the W, but it was excruciating watching Deleone's play calling.

Happy with the win and with the offensive improvement over prior week, but we do need to keep improving. Especially if defensive injuries continue.

If we lost yesterday there would be another Boneyard collection thread, this time for a highway billboard involving DeLeone.

Can we have a pass on first down?

How about some misdirection in the running game like an end around with Williams? Maryland almost won the game by having misdirection or the threat of it in their running game.

Finally he let McCummings throw the ball and he had running lanes afterwards.

Don Brown is fearless, DeLeone all fear.

I'm not sure if it's DeLeone, or if it's Whitmer. Whitmer looks bad. Not Johnny Mac bad, but no poise, no ability to shift in the pocket, no ability to buy himself another second or two. Jury still out on both, but something is definitely not right with this offense.

Do you have the booster juice to make it happen? Better start mailing huge SEC/Big 12 size donation checks payable to Football Department if you want to start tossing coaches. Not going to happen till the buy-outs and bucko increased salary $$ for all the wunderkind folks profess will run right to Storrs for a job are covered by non- state $$. Stamping you feet on the BY ain't gonna get it done.

We (myself included) are frustrated by the play calling but how many threads on the same topics do we need? Take a few to read below threads for one to jump in on the same topic rather than start a new one.

Sorry... Off my soapbox .

Where should he go? To the store, or to buy a new car, or maybe to a restaurant? If he has grand kids he can visit them I suppose. Just where is it that you want him to go??

So, we as UConn fans should just accept ineptitude from our state u? Maybe Connecticut is different from other BCS programs.

That's my point... UConn is different than other BCS programs. No matter how much we want to be - we are not SEC, Big 12, BiG10, PAC12 level. Do we aspire to be - damn right, but we don't have the number of big time, noise making, take my money, boosters that a lot of programs have (outside the obvious - Burton's, Shenkman's, etc...). It needs to be cultivated and nurtured.

Calling for a coach to be fired over and over again on a bulletin board is a cathartic, but it isn't going to get it done.

Again, sorry for my rant.

Why again should he be fired. We are 2-1 and lost a tough one at home. He should be fired because us idiotic posters call for his head.

I think that that is a great way to run a college program. Just listen to every no-nothing poster and do what they say.

Rich, we lost a "tough"one because we can not score. If you only score 7 points, you are going to have a lot of "tough"losses. It's very "tough"to win when you only score 7 points. Even at home. Especially at home.

GD is not going to be fired. Not this year. Not next year. It's OK to call for it, tho.

And I blame the WR's. All day no one could get open? That was supposed to be an upgraded position this year. If no one can create separation, it'll make any QB look dazed and confused.

The only positive thing that can be said about the offense is that is was...better. Better than the last two weeks, but still far short of even the most conservative expectations. At times there were holes to run through, at times there were passes completed and at times the ball was moved down the field but, not many. At no time did you get the sense that the offense was doing anything methodically. The open passes were missed by just enough to ruin and YAC or open receivers ignored. There was almost no forward push by the line on running plays and far too many were stuffed for a program built on not having running plays stuffed.

There was signs of hope from the QB (no ints, 10/16), and the running game (94 yds) but as a whole, it was not what you'd call good. We can't expect to win games on D and returns all season. A+ efforts by both results in a sweated out last second 3 pt win against a horrible team starting true freshman all over the field.

We are 2-1. Duh. As long a s the D is holding its own, and until Whitmer has had more D1 snaps, the play calling will be conservative - as it should be.

'Cause we have the a 67th ranked individual RB (and no other RB's getting action) with the 100th ranked running attack; pack in 2 TE's who can't make plays and allow defenses to pack LOS; have played teams that give up lot of points (NCST vs. Tenn; Mass vs. Michigan) and can not get a passing TD.

This is a terribly schemed and coached offense which does not utilize Williams or other WR's. It is so bad as to be cartoonish.

There are reasons Deleone and PP spent last 10 years in NFL and not at the college level. College requires making do with what you have rather than making what you have do less 'cause you have an NFL style offense. Yeah, Hernandez and Gronkowski might make the Uconn's pro set, 2 TE's offense look better; but even that isn't a sure thing.

Team should be 3-0 plain and simple. Good team win yesterday but once again offense was detrimental to the success of this team overall. If you're satisfied with 2-1 at this point in the season then I don't know what to tell you, apparently you have low expectations. I for one, know the talent on this team, first hand, and know what they are capable of producing. Sky is the limit for these players. They aren't and continually will not be able to succeed if put in the schemes being created by DeLeone. I want the kids in the program to be as successful as they possibly can be, but when Mike Foley is demoted and our OC takes over and you see the production on the line go down exponentially even from last year, it is apparent what the problem is. No soapbox needed here, just facts.

Hard to disagree with any of this. Win or lose yesterday. . the offense is a warning signal of bad things yet to come. And . . . IMO a Mike Leach would make this offense much better with the very same players in uniform right now. Dele is a huge part of this problem. HCPP the rest. I'm not ready to quit on the offense players just yet. Better coaching would lead to better performance with the same kids.

Where is our Mackey award nominated TE? Where are the Williams on O? Cant believe were blowing another RS with Joe. Where is Shakim Phillips? any of our WRs? Where is our pass catching FB? Where is are speed? Where is any imagination? Where is any vertical game coming from? Was he getting more people open last year?

Deleone's resume the past 7 years.

2005 Ole Miss- was the running game coordinator/offensive line coach. Team only averaged 2.4 yards per carry and rushed for only 800 yards the whole season.
2006 Temple- offensive coordinator/quarterbacks. Team averged 1.9 yards per carry, and only scored over 20 points twice going 1-11 overall.
2007 Temple-offensive coordinator/offensive line. Team averaged 2.7 yards per carry. And the qb's improved as deleone started focusing on ol.
2008-10 Miami dolphins TE coach.

Notice that wherever deleone has been OC, the last few years there is absolutely no running game. When he was assigned to qb at temple the team lost 11 games.
