Does the NCAA selection committe give any preferential treatment to the defending champs? You would think that if a team is on the bubble that they would give them every opportunity to get in and defend their title. Maybe its the last factor, but it should be considered.

What was the last Champ that was left out that was actually on the bubble? UNC didn't make it in 2012 after winning in 2009, but they were also 16-16 and went to the NIT. Therefore, they were pretty far from the bubble.

I think if we were in a position where we were the 1st or 2nd team out without considering last year, it might give us a bump but other than that I wouldn't count on it.

Florida in 2008 didn't make it after back to back titles. They went 21-11 and 8-8 in the mediocre SEC. They went 3-8 to close out the season.

This is not boxing. There is no defending champion. Each year everyone starts with a clean slate.

Well, to be fair, no one has made it yet in 2012. I don't see why winning it in 2009 should help get a team into the 2012 tournament, anyway.

Will the NCAA give UConn preferential treatment? Does the sun rise in the west?
