You might as well stick with your smartphone or buy a cheap point and shoot otherwise buying a DSLR would be a waste of $$$. Finding the sweet spot between price, ease of use and function is somewhat subjective however a prosumer level camera lens combo has many advantages and should be a consideration for a person with pockets deep enough to go on safari.
