Death Storm, Jan 2026

Just checked weather for Hartford on Friday/Saturday....quite decent both days.
Some snow coming early Sunday morning.

.-.
I woke up to 3 more inches of snow on the ground today. Did not get the memo.
Yeah they were wrong. Was supposed to be a coating of snow. At least the weatherman on NBC30 admitted it. There was enough that my plow came early this morning.

To be fair, 3 inches of snow coats things pretty good.

Waylon also doesn't bother cleaning off the roof of his car when it's 3 inches or less. No reason to inconvenience himself when it comes to the safety of other drivers.

Storm seems to be pushing north a bit. Northern NH/VT looking at 12-16 inches now, on the backside of -40 windchill Saturday and Sunday. CT should still get a foot. Gonna be a bread and milk day at the grocery stores all day Friday and Saturday in anticipation. Big snow storms in January rock

Proving it’s all about measurable.

45 degree swing in one day for me out on the panhandle of Florida.

do they ever get it right?? I usually look at their snow amount forecast and either cut it in half or double it.

Well, which one is it?

For what it's worth I don't like the forecast trending further north. Potentially that could put me in the ice zone. Clearing off a foot plus of snow is a PIA but the ice has the potential to take out people's power for a while.

The league just moved the Sunday 1/25 noon UConn women's game at Seton Hall to Saturday 1/24 at noon.
Hmmmm.... now a big decision to be made. Which game do I watch, men's or women's??? 😂 wink wink

Haven't studied it yet. I'll let you know.

It's good the storm seems to be tracking north, it would mean less deaths. If this is a 3 inch ice event for a large swath of The South there will be a lot of deaths.

TBH the weather system required for 3" of ice would cause lots of death anywhere in the US.

But he does drive at least 300 feet behind the car in front of him. So there's that! Lol.

As an aside, and I would put it in the other thread but I put it on Ignore, I was watching the cars on the highway as I was coming into work today after the morning rush hour. There's no way anyone drives 300 feet behind the car in front of them. If everyone did that there would be about 18 cars in a 1 mile stretch (5280/300) in each lane. I'm not sure what rural area he lives in but I can definitely say there are no areas of the Mass. Pike in Eastern Massachusetts that only have 18 cars in a 1 mile stretch. Maybe in the middle of the night.

Yep but the upper Midwest and New England are much better equipped to deal with ice and other extreme winter weather than The South is which is why I'm hoping this moves to the North and is mostly a major snow event with frigid temps.
