Current B1G schools' line is 18 FF 2 NC 10-16, but point well taken.
You don't get to count Maryland much like the Big East didn't get to count Louisville's championship. Different conference.

To make @Brochacho 's point even more stark: Since 1990, the B1G has (as a whole conference) 3 fewer titles and only 2 more wins:

Since 1990:
UConn: 5 FF 4 NC 8-1 record
B1G: 20 FF 1 NC 10-19 record

B1G record in NC games since 2000: 0-6 (6 different schools)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get into a P5 conference.

Unfortunately, it's all about football. Basketball doesn't mean nearly as much, or UConn would already be in a better conference.

B1G doesn't need UConn in football. They have the defending National Champs.

I disagree.

The B1G is NOW about full programming & international Brand. And that is primarily Football today. But, it's also about Entertainment dollars. And, it's also about promoting a bunch of LandGrant State U's internationally. And Research to bring in the big dollars. And rising above the Platform of lots of other "Publics". The B1G Network means a lot in the Constant Branding as this moves forward on a International scaling.

And, that does include their reach into Hockey. And Hoop. Guess what ... UConn WBB play into that as well. If you can spread programming & you can advance to farther reaches of New England to make the Shanghai top 100 along with the USN&WR top ranks, the B1G needs to be FAR beyond Football.

Maybe the others (ACC and B12 - for instance) are in the game of expanding their revenue model. The B1G is reaching for far more.
