what is with the media saying hes thinking of leaving? We stayed way after the Providence game and see DD. Asked him if he will be back next year and his response "Oh yeah looking forward to a better season" then gave a fist bump. The media needs to stop throwing his name as a possible player leaving. Why make the kid think he could possibly make it in the NBA this year? Once again media trying to mislead people.

I think he is the least likely of the three to leave(I really don't think hes going) and he is by far the best NBA prospect of the three.

Couldn't agree more, I thought it was fairly silly how the media was running with stories about Shabazz having a big decision then our season ends and the media is also talking about Boatright and Daniels. it's pretty freaking stupid to talk about any of them and the NBA at this point, shame on the CT. horde.

He's only a bit stronger than lamb at this point and no where near the deep threat. Lamb is shooting like 50% from 3 last I checked. DD isn't strong enough yet to score inside in the NBA. He will be back for one more year and will be a top 15 pick when he comes out

Boatright is openly talking about it, so what are they supposed to do, ignore him?

All three guys were specifically asked about next year and none of the three confirmed they were definitely coming back.

His physical ability and upside makes him the most attractive "prospect". A lot has to happen for Deandre to make it at the next level. If we see a similar development like we did this past season, plus additional strength, then he can very well be the next UConn lottery pick. But not this year.

His lack of strength is a huge concern for the next level. He has a ways to go before being NBA ready.
I don't think Shabazz, Boatright or Daniels are sure fire first round picks. Unbiasedly, they probably all should stay in school. Their egos may not be in alignment with the minds of NBA GMs.

I think DD has the most to gain by coming back another year. Or, at least, he has the most room to grow and demonstrate improvement in his game.

I don't think it makes any sense for Daniels to think NBA at this point. He's played well over the last few weeks, but even then he's had a couple of "eh" type games, too. 4 good games doesn't make you an NBA prospect. I agree though that he has a huge upside, probably more than either Boatright or Napier, and when the time is right, if he keeps improving, he could be a solid NBA pick.

DD's problem as far as NBA scouts are concerned that he doesn't yet have the handle to play the 3, or the strength around the rim to play the 4. Even in this year's NBA, where guys like LeBron and Carmelo are getting time at the 4, DD isn't strong enough.

Caron Butler was serenaded with chants of 1 more year by the student section at Gampel in the final home game of his sophmore year. He waved the crowd to get louder, put his hand to his ear and then nodded smiling. He then (rightfully) jumped to the League.

I don't think DD will jump, he is certainly not in the position Caron was and Caron's draft stock no doubt rose in that tourney, but be cautious when taking a player at their word when engaging with fans when it comes to this decision.

I know DeAndre as more then a "fan" I take his word that he is coming back. He told me he has to get stronger and work on his handle and outside shot. He laughed when i asked if he was leaving. I can say with 100% confidence he isnt going anywhere but back to Storrs.

You'd better man up and come back here if he leaves.

That being said, I hope you're right. In addition to having a ton of talent, Deandre plays hard, does the dirty stuff on the inside, and seems like a good kid.

Interesting development for DD. He really likes KO, he attributes his development to the coaching staff and most likely is aware that if he continues to develop he can be a lottery pick. And that development is not too hard too achieve. Unlike SN who really has to weigh his chances between this and next year and whose decision is fifty fifty, DD has a lot to gain by further development. One more year can have a huge impact on his position in the NBA draft.

Personally, if I were DD, I'd sit with SN and create a contract that offers SN half of DD's NBA contract for the first two years if SN returns next season.

The thing UConn fans have to be concerned about is if SN and RB leave will DD feel there is little chance for his development next season without them.

Super duper agree with the bold part.

According to the current rankings
Shabazz is no 124, the 24th PG
Deandre is no 139- 28th SF
Boatright is no 227 the 43rd PG
All could very possibly not be drafted and have to stick as a free agent. STAY IN SCHOOL! I know it's easy for me to say from my easy chair here. If they make a nice run this next season it will be well rewarded by both DD + SN getting good draft position and guaranteed money.

there are 30 draft slots in the first round, yet we're talking about up to 3 of our kids leaving

I'm sorry, and I mean no disrespect, but I think that's delusional

what would really send this board into a tizzy is the possibility that they could all announce but wind up coming back. Gauging interest and attending some workout sessions can only help them

Scouts have openly said they consider Daniels to be the best NBA prospect on UConn's roster. He had a great last 4 games...not surprising that there are rumors that he is exploring his options. If he leaves I'm confident that he will be well-informed and will be making the best decision he can be.

It does seem a little ridiculous, but DD, Bazz, and Boat aren't even listed on 2014 mock drafts.

All would likely not be drafted. Bazz has an outside chance as a late second round pick but the other 2 have none. There is nothing about Boaright's current game that will would appeal to any NBA team. NBA shooting guards are are 6'4" + and shoot it a lot more consistantly that Boatright. He needs to come back and work on PG skills because if he makes it in the NBA it will be as a PG.There aren't a lot of 5'9"-5'10" SGs in the NBA.
I believe Buffet regarding Daniels. He'll be back.

Nate Robinson isn't a true PG and he's had a good run at around Boatright's height. He is definitely a lot stronger though, which helps counteract his lack of height when playing taller guys.

I could definitely see DD getting picked up if he declares based on potential alone and knowing you might not get a chance at him next year.

I couldn't see DD getting picked up in the first round. His lack of strength and handle make him a big question mark for the next level. He had a nice end to the season, but his game has a long ways to go. I would be very surprised if an NBA team would risk taking him in the first round this year.
