Were they both offered scholarships?? If so, two more are now available. http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/player/news/_/id/114781/briana-day
I really can't see how any kids would want to go to UNC. This is ridiculous.
A harbinger of another big announcement?
I think the reality will be that if UNC can win with this core of 2013 recruits, all will be forgiven/forgotten. If they don't...UNC will never live it down.It seems like a sad story for the Day sisters. They committed in 2011. Now, after the 4 players committed this year and the possible verbal of Russell, they are decommitting.
I can't think of any reason this is a good precident in WCBB.
"After discussing it with her sister and mother that, "there are probably better opportunities out there for us."
At least they have time to find another program to go to that will treat them with respect.
Maybe for UNC fans, but not fans of WCBB in general and anyone that cares about the young women that play this sport.I think the reality will be that if UNC can win with this core of 2013 recruits, all will be forgiven/forgotten. If they don't...UNC will never live it down.
Kobe Bryant was a lousy teammate who may have gotten away with raping a woman. Then he won his two rings without Shaq, and the narrative changed. LeBron was the devil incarnate until the Heat won, and then he wasn't. Tiger's greatest offense has been that he hasn't returned to pre-scandal form. If he had, that would be the story.
The sports-loving public likes to create heroes and villains, but wins and losses are remembered above all else.
Indeed, he's starting to look better and is the only guy on the tour with three tourney wins. And if he wins a major, watch the narrative change. Not saying it's right or wrong- just that Americans love a winner.Tiger looked good today. That's 3 wins this year, if he gets a major or the Fed Ex cup, that's a darn good year!

I think you overestimate. Players transfer; players decommit. I think very few future recruits will care very much, especially in a couple of years.
And I still predict Hatchell doesn't have a ton of years to go, so she cares more about winning now, less on long-term recruiting reputation.
I was out at Congressional today. For the fans there--he's the host and many big names were missing--it was like old times. The crowd was definitely pro-Tiger and quite loud.Indeed, he's starting to look better and is the only guy on the tour with three tourney wins. And if he wins a major, watch the narrative change. I need a freaking scorecard to keep up with what is going on in Peyton Place, er Chapel Hill. They have somewhere between 10 and 20 on the roster.
