I too must apologize for posting without proper introduction. Candidly, I had no idea that was the practice and even now suspect it may be an elaborate ruse by all the Tonys to get me to embarrass myself. Here goes: I'm DavidinNaples and I live and work in...wait for it, Naples. The one 166 miles south of Tampa, not the one 87 Km east of Geno's original home town. Yes, I tend to stuff too many facts into my posts....at least 87.4% of the time...

I discovered UConn basketball while visiting my parents in Wilton, Conn. That was a long time ago. I remember back then the basketball was square and made of stone. My favorite Huskie is Maya Moore, but I would pay all my Mohegan Sun casino money for dinner with Shea Ralph, just to talk basketball. (Heck, I'd pay that money just to watch her lift weights.) My first post was in April, called "Can UConn replace the graduating seniors..." (Apparently the answer is "yes".) Recently, I wrote "The moment Stewie became a Superstar...". I enjoy writing the posts, but particularly like the extra analysis and debate by all the Boneyarders (?) 'yarders (?)or whatever we are collectively called... My favorite poster is probably meyer because he made me snort diet-Coke out of my nose....

I'm embarrassed to say I can't find where Nan puts the "immortalized" stuff and just figured out how to post a picture... I've written several never-to-be-published posts including "Why does myers have a soccer logo as his avatar...", the very controversial "When is Grampysorous going to change it to Grumpysorous" and the hard hitting "Why is alexrgct so stingy with the "likes" and how wise is he?". On a whim I went to the Virgin Islands to see the team play and met KML, Doty and many of the ladies. They were so gracious and lovely. The only bad experience was when I thought I saw Iebear and DaddyChoc down by the pool in what looked like matching Speedos. I ran, eyes bleeding, back to my room.

I hope to attend the reginal tournament at Mohegan Sun next year and buy drinks for everone I have offended. Go Huskies....!!

I'm offended... Heck, I'm very very very offended... Possibly even more offended than just a mere three offendeds. Looks like we'll just have to see how offended I am once we meet at the pub. If you feel really bad about your posts, I'm willing to let you buy me lunch too.

We've had several "how did you become a Husky fan?" threads in the past but individual intros are not standard practice by any means. They do appear from time to time (including several recently), and from my POV it's always nice to see :)

I enjoy writing the posts, but particularly like the extra analysis and debate by all the Boneyarders (?) 'yarders (?)or whatever we are collectively called..

It may be just me, but I'd steer clear of the second one! lol

I think 'Yarders, Boneyarders, the 'Yard, BYers---or a mildly derogatory nickname of your own choosing would all be just fine...... :D

On a whim I went to the Virgin Islands to see the team play and met KML, Doty and many of the ladies. They were so gracious and lovely

Lucky you!

The only bad experience was when I thought I saw Iebear and DaddyChoc down by the pool in what looked like matching Speedos. I ran, eyes bleeding, back to my room.

Scratch that...! You poor, unlucky soul!

Welcome, David

Given the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be the announcement of the first openly gay yarder

The salt-of-the-earth folks over at Checkerboard Square used to refer to us as 'yarders; seemingly to them that seemed a derogatory term, tho I never could see why. Personally, I think that Boneheads just about sums it up for a good many of us at least. Welcome to the 'yard.

'Yarders it is..!! Thanks to all for kind words and having a great sense of humor. Drink offer at Regional stands. Lunch for Boo and desert for Icebear, maybe something frozen and delicious. UConn93, I'm straight w/ 2 kids, but one of my adopted kids is gay. I told her if she is a good person in life and has found love in her heart, I'm thrilled for her. Go Huskies..!

Delightful OP, welcome to BY.

I can't say I'm offended in any way. However, I may qualify for your drink offer as I'm frequently told that I offend the sensibilities of some others around here based on various and sundry reasons, justifications, pretexts, righteous indignation and such like :-/

By that criterion, I'll have to come to Mohegan Sun with a designated driver ;-p

thanks for the mention... I'm famous!
It is a short road from "I'm famous," to "i(')m()famous." ;-) About the same as the amount of material in a bloody speedo.

Apology accepted.

I enjoy writing the posts, but particularly like the extra analysis and debate by all the Boneyarders (?) 'yarders (?)or whatever we are collectively called...
Yea, let's go with Boneyarders.

My favorite poster is probably meyer because he made me snort diet-Coke out of my nose....
I take that as a complement???

I've written several never-to-be-published posts including "Why does myers have a soccer logo as his avatar...",
Although many people probably consider I spend too much time on UCONN women's basketball, it dwarfs in comparison to the amount of time I spend on soccer (particularly Arsenal). Besides reading numerous message boards, blogs, I also coach, referee, and teach/mentor young referee's. Knees are too old to play anymore. I realize you probably were not really interested, but anyway....

The only bad experience was when I thought I saw Iebear and DaddyChoc down by the pool in what looked like matching Speedos. I ran, eyes bleeding, back to my room.
Yea that would definitely do it. I would be tempted to gouge my own eyes out at that point. (at least they were separate Speedos)

I hope to attend the reginal tournament at Mohegan Sun next year and buy drinks for everone I have offended.
Oh wait, free drinks?? ummm forget any apology accepted or complementary things I might have inadvertently said, I am deeply offended. Sambuca (black, on ice), please.

Um definitely Boneyarders, possibly 'Yarders, but not never the other one. Too big an opportunity for misinterpretation such as...

Hey David,

Welcome aboard the UCONN train. Where the final stop (barring any unforseen circumstances) will be Nashville. ;)

On a serious note, like I mentioned to you in another thread, please keep up with your analysis as they're very always welcomed on the site and fun to read....
