I live in a suburb of Dallas. If anyone has questions about the area, feel free to ask. If anyone can get ahold of a few extra tickets, please keep me in mind.
I am sure we could work something out. Keep in mind NASCAR is in town next weekend. Paper this morning said hotels already at 85% capacity. Can we stay at your house?
I got into the Residence Inn at Arlington - two miles from stadium. Anything fun to do around there? Rangers are out of town I think
Did I buy San Antonio tickets from you in '04?I got into the Residence Inn at Arlington - two miles from stadium. Anything fun to do around there? Rangers are out of town I think
If you think it helps the mojo, it does. Isn't that the quote of the day?I think you did That has to be good for mojo
Jerry world is a spectacle. I was happy when we got the final four, and it's unbelievable that we made it.I did not make it to Houston. Looking forward to this one
Coaches hotel is in downtown Dallas, for their meetings early in the week. So things will be spread out. There are a lot of hotels very close to Jerry world, and I would guess teams are there. Although in Houston, we were near the galleria, about 15 miles from reliant stadium, which is about the same from Arlington from Dallas or Fort Worth.Anyone know where the teams are staying? I hate these Final Fours that are in a place like Arlington. Everything is probably going to be spread out all over the place with no central place where everything is happening. San Antonio was the best with everyone downtown, everything within walking distance and things to do on the River Walk where everyone congregated.

Any cool, interesting neighborhoods that are walking friendly, and you can walk from hotels to bars, restaurants, and shops?

Renting a car is close to unavoidable. There are taxi's but you are looking at $80+ each way from Downtown Dallas. I am in the uptown area (Mckinney ave, just north of Downtown). It has a lot of good restaurants and bars, but isn't extremely unique.
The cool areas to check out IMO are Deep Ellum (just east of downtown), Lower Greenville (NE of downtown), Bishop Arts District (SW of downtown). These all have unique shops/restaurants/bars. Klyde Warren Park is a cool area between Uptown and Downtown.
Victory Park (AA Center where Mavs and Stars play) is a decent area right by downtown.
Are there hotels in any of cool areas that you mentioned above?
Yea, but your looking at minimum $250 a night. If you go a little north of downtown (along I-75), you can get $100-150 a night. I just saw some around the 635-75 intersection for >$100 a night, of course the hotels aren't the greatest, but thats a perfectly fine area.
If you stay along 75, you can buy an all-day pass ($5 I believe)for the Greenline train that runs up and down there all day. It can drop you off around those places I mentioned.

Pretty much. DFW is huge. I used to drive an hour + to work. Nothing like the northeast. You need a car here. A two hour drive in Dallas is nothing. Is renting a car unavoidable?
not much within walking distance. The usual chain restaurants are about a mile or farther from the stadium. Heading to rangers opening day, so I'll double check. What restaurants/bars would you recommend that are within walking distance of the stadium? Are there any? Would we be better off parking and then going somewhere or just driving and parking at a restaurant then heading to the stadium? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Rooms are pretty cheap right in the downtown: Crown Plaza, Homewood Suites, Indigo. What do you think about staying right there? Is it pretty corporate with nothing going on on the weekends, or are there bars/restaurants?
What about the City Place/Uptown station area or Mockingbird station are, seem kind of close to the lower granville area.
