#3 Tufts lost the NESCAC conference title to #1 Amherst, 41-36 over the weekend, but still enters the tournament as one of the top teams. And, they're on the opposite side of the bracket from Amh, so no 3rd matchup unless they make the title game.

Thanks for posting. Good to see my Chicago Maroons made the tourney. They must have been a bubble team with 7 losses, but a win over perennial rivals and longtime powerhouse Wash U surely helped.

Where I am in the city right now makes it a royal pain to get down to the South Side and check out some games but happy to see that they are in the mix.

They had a rough go of it for a year or two after losing a 5 senior starters plus the coach from the 2011-2012 team that was undefeated in the regular season.

fyi Wash U coach Nancy Fahey is kinda the Geno of D3. Her career record is 737-132 (.848), with 5 NCs and 9 F4s.

Not really a fair comparison. Washington is one of the very few National Research Universities that participates as a D3school (NYU is another), so they start out with a huge advantage because of the much higher enrollment and national profile that enables them to have an unlimited recruiting territory. That said, she is a very fine coach (my daughter's team at DePauw used to play them every year in a pre-conference tournament).

Tufts trailed 53-41 with 5:30 to go, but came back to beat St Thomas 60-57.

Amherst is up 20+ on Christopher Newport in Q4, so we're headed towards Amherst-Tufts III.

Whoa, what a comeback. Was that St. Thomas of Houston?
