Lol... Tebucky Jr. wanted to play last year or the year before when he was given high praises by reporters, but coaches barely put him in. Poor rotation with players by coaches. I don't think Tebucky was a curse. Des always mentioned how bad McCummings accuracy was, so I don't think a lot of Uconn fans expected much from him, but running the wild cat.

I bring that up for two reasons. First is players need to listen to the coaches not the media. And secondly, media, no matter how hard they try, rarely influence playing time.

The question is how good isn't it? I don't think anyone is bumping Whitmer. It would be awesome if that were the case, not because I'm down on Whitmer but because they'd have to be amazing to be so.

A guy doesn't get in, it doesn't mean it was poor rotation by the coaches. it jsut might mean that the guy wasn't that good. Tebucky certainly didn't do a lot to show he was ready when he did get to play. Lots of drops.

none of the back ups have college experience so I don't think that matters either way

At this level they all have arms. It's about decision making and the ability to see stuff develop. That's what I read by him saying smooth operator.

Not really that unusual for the back up quarterback to have no experience in college. Maybe he gets in to hand off on a few running plays in the 4th quarter of a blowout, but most teams go with one guy and only bring in the sub if that guy gets injured or if he isn't getting it done. Most backups raely see the field. Unless they run the wildcat like Deleone...A few years back there was a trend to use the backup, especially if he was a frosh or s sophomore and the starter in waiting, for a series or two, usually in the 2nd quarter for some reason. But like lots of fads, that practice pretty much dies out.

I'm not trying to dis Casey -- I don't go negative on players, and I know they're all breaking their picks at camp - - it just seems a little odd we haven't heard more about him.

I've been a Lagow guy based on the film I saw and level of competition he faced in HS. That being said, may the best man win.

Another random thought.....Cochran will begin the year as #2, but won't end it there.

If Casey isn't on the two deep coming out of camp it will be a signal that he is probably a career back-up here, he will then need to decide if he is OK with that or prefer to go the Nebrich route.

Logan Marchi has a big arm too, so it doesn't get any easier.

FWIW I still think Cochran will be on the two deep.
