18pts/13reb/5ast is a heck of a stat line.

He tried to force things a bit in the 1st half, but I really didnt mind it as it was after Jalen went out, no one else was hitting anything, everyone looked lost, and he was trying to spark the team.

I don't mind forcing things while going to the basket but throwing up 30 footers isn't a good game plan to get back in the game. His second half game play was better as he tried using the pick n roll to give Carlton some good chances inside which worked for us.

He went from the most inconsistent player last year to the most consistent this year. Never would have guessed it with his temperament. He's maturing.

Me neither and after the first couple of games this board was ready to run him off. I don’t know exactly when it clicked for him but it’s been a lot of fun watching him grow.

Love this guy. Bleed blue. Go Uconn. Hopefully we get in the tourney this year to wet our appetites. We're salivating for a Championship Team.
All the fluid references in this post makes me uncomfortable.

What’s really changed over the decades is the point st which players are expected to mature. Part of it is the pre college competition the kids get outside of high school in AAU. Years ago:, freshman couldn’t play varsity. Players who excelled as sophs were called Super Sophs. Junior year was where hoops maturity was expected. Maybe for some kids it’s still that way, but the coaching structure was missing for Vital, too.

I think his first two threes went in. He only took six threes and made three. The team made four of eighteen on threes. Christian needs to stop forcing threes though.

CV has become a very solid, consistent player. He is on the cusp of being a star. You cant overlook 18 and 13 from a guard.

However, CV isnt a go to guy. We dont have a go to guy, although Al and Booknight might both eventually get there.

I dear hope he comes back next year. We need his fight and leadership. And consistency. What a different player he is this year. I think he will absolutely flourish with more talent around him.

Here's a stat- He has as many turnovers (7) in the last 6 games as he did against Arizona.

When CV is our go to guy we stink. When he’s our #3 we are pretty good.

Anyone remember Scott Burrell's senior year? He threw up a ton of bricks from three but kept shooting because he thought of himself as the go-to guy. He was a great college player but he was no go-to guy. And Vital is no Burrell.

He was the second best player on last year’s team.
Having minimal scoring options can cause inconsistentancy.

CV shot almost 50% last night. I wish he shot more. I'd rather have him chucking than BA or Serah Williams. Even when Jalen was in, Hurley's offense has a hard time against the zone. There is no creativity to get open shots.

This was always Vital's team. Sad you guys needed Jalen to get hurt to realize this!!

Christian hit half of his 3s last night and is shooting 42% on the season from deep. Where is this perception of him throwing up a ton of bricks from three coming from?

From the first half where he was forcing things. I think Hurley had a good talk with him at halftime to play within himself and look for Carlton on Pick n rolls. He was much better than but the damage had already been done. Of course it was Sid and Brendan who were worst in the first half. Thing is CV is basically the leader by default and he has to take better shots now in that role. After making his first two 3's and Jalen leaving he ended the half 0-4 with 2 ill advised forced 3's. He played much better in the second half.

CV was 2-4 on 3s in the first half.

Again, where does this perception of him chucking up a bunch of bad shots from deep come from? I agree he did it last year, but he's been worlds better this season.
