From the UConn Huskies football page, here are the remaining coaches for this year's staff. Where do you think they end up in 2022??

Take this whatever direction you want, but I was thinking along the lines of Coach X ends up as offensive line coach at a P5/G5/FBS/FCS/D2/D3 or NFL. Feel free to consider career path to this point, your opinion of the coach's personal desire for career trajectory and whatever come to your mind.

I'll start with Lou. I think if he wants to be an HC, he gets a G5 HC position. If not he becomes a P5 defensive coordinator.
Cory will become a P5 offensive position coach.

Not sure where they will go....but a lot depends on if things co tinue to improve. Eddie Allen has special teams playing hungry despite our record. Having Brewton running with anger is making him look better and better...and our kick coverage has been solid.
Same with Corey. Jay Rose can make him stand out if they keep feeding him. Players love him and are vocal about that, so I'll assume he lands on his feet, at least a G5 job.
Don't know about Moyseenko. Not sure if its the after-Edsall effect, the Tyler Phommachanh phenomenon, or the Mazzone touch, but his future is looking brighter recently.
Spanos already has the pedigree for a HC job...just where that is depends a lot on our "winnable" games and how the team competes against Clemson and UCF.

if we get Tyler Phommachanh back I can see UCF and Houston as winnable or at least close-ish

Horton has pedigree and will probably end up G5 DC soon enough. It's telling that they made him DC and not DDC that had the experience.
Guifre will go back to OL somewhere probably G5 or FCS.
Expect that DDC would like to get back to being a DC and could see him back to G5.
Smith having Recruiting Coordinator tied to his title should give him the ability to move over to a lower P5.
I feel like Mensa not being able to hold onto the starting job is a bit of a blemish on Weiss but he has ties to Spanos from UCLA and could follow him and get back on the defensive side of the ball.

I know this is getting away from the topic of the thread: where the current coaches will end up.

My response to your post:
will that burn his redshirt? If it does burn his redshirt do you think it's worth it especially if Krewjewski is playing well? It's not a rhetorical question. I genuinely don't know what I would prefer.

you may be right that it is a better idea just to RS Phommachanh. 4 games is the maximum # of games for a player to still redshirt. Phommochanh has played in 3. Maybe if he's healthy and they wanna redshirt him he'll play a bit against Yale?

I think Steven Krajewski will surprise you if Mazzone gets things set up right for his style. And for our run game game with Carter.
I sure hope so! We need him to be good. I LOVE Nate Carter. Him and either Phommachanh or Krajewski are the future of this program. And to stay on topic with this post, will be a good representation of what the coaches here can do.

Considering Krajewski played pretty well in an emergency situation vs. a well favored Vanderbilt, I'm excited for what this Saturday holds for Mazzone's offense.

Krajewski deserved to win vs Vandy for sure. that 2pt conversion at the end definitely should've been caught, but I guess we have to remember that's the reality of being a bottom team in FBS...

I dunno, but the word "indefinitely" kinda has the ring of perhaps not being ready for spring practice. I would be shocked if he came back this season.

Steven Krajewski went in cold not planning to play in the rain i feel you use the last 6 games to see what he can do without having the if i make a mistake im pulled looming over his head as a audition for next year rs Tyler Phommachanh. if the coaching staff can put some wins together i feel spanos lands P5 somewhere as a positions coach. as a DC might be hard givin the fact how many PPG uconn gives up and i believe i did not check that his last season at UCLA they gave up a high ppg as well. guiffere and moysenko i feel end up in FCS maybe D2. corey i can see landing in a mid p5 for his praise he gets from jay rose

I’m impressed with Spanos and Mazzone. If they can win a few games and keep us from getting really embarrassed against Clemson and UCF, you have to give them a look. It would be a huge achievement for them and it will be very difficult to do, but if they can get it done, they deserve consideration. The team keeps improving and we are playing tons of freshman and have lots of key injuries, Drayton and Ross in particular. They are doing a really good job considering the situation.

It’s up to to Tyler Phommachanh to redshirt or not. Would like to see him play again but have a feeling he won’t be ready.

Honestly the only onenthat should be brought back if possible is Eddie Allen. Special teams has been top notch and is our best overall unit.

You keep bringing up Steven Krajewski being cold and not planning on playing. If so, that's a horrible mindset for the back up QB when you know the starter is a true frosh and goes about 5'9" 190 lbs. If there was ever a situation where the back up has to be ready to go on a single play's notice, this was it. Steven Krajewski has plenty enough time on campus as a back up QB to know how to be ready to go.

Not too sure on your athletic background but going into a game close to the first quarter being over in any sport yes you are going to be cold and be a little behind of getting in to a groove. And saying I need to be ready to go in if something happens is total different kind set as I know I’m going in. Perfect example his first half was shaky then he got in to a groove and put together 2 drives over 70 yards each in 4:03 seconds to take the lead. After he settled in and got a Rhythm and knew he was going in the second half. Those drives that got put together looked great for him and who was ever playing the calls couldn’t tell you the last time uconn went almost 160 yards in 4 min for two tds

Well, this week he knows that he is going to be the quarterback and we are playing against a very beatable opponent. It is Steve’s time to shine. Let’s see how he does.

Special Teams play and lack of discipline on kickoff coverage cost UConn the Vandy game. I credit the players ability (particularly McFadden & Brewton) much more highly than the coaching for the success of that unit. Clean house and let the hire start fresh.

--

I'll start with Lou. I think if he wants to be an HC, he gets a G5 HC position. If not he becomes a P5 defensive coordinator.
Cory will become a P5 offensive position coach.

I disagree here. Let's say UConn finishes the year at 3-9 (winning the next two and one more along the way), a G5 school struggling bad enough to fire their coach isn't going to say, let me get the guy who went 3-7 as an interim at UConn (who was the butt of jokes throughout 2021).

Similarly I don't think he's going to transition from UConn a G5 coordinator job/interim head coach to a P5 coordinator job. He's done a great job as a motivator, but look at the numbers. No P5 school looking for a new coordinator is looking to grab a guy whose defensive ranks are among the worst in FBS. He'll land somewhere (and I expect most of the guys will land somewhere although several may have to head to FCS); but it's more likely to be as a P5 position coach (maybe with some enhanced title Blitzing game coordinator, associate head coach) or G5 coordinator (someplace with an established coach who isn't fearing someone with interim experience looking over his shoulder)/position coach.

There's a difference between being cold (acceptable) and not planning on playing (unacceptable).

Mentally he should have been ready and physically he should have been ready. If I was on the staff I'd have been hammering that home every snap of practice for Steven Krajewski. Frail, inexperienced QB;one hit and Steven Krajewski needs to be ready.
With bad weather I'd definitely would have .y back up QB throwing every 10 minutes just to stay loose and warm.

I wouldn’t call Tyler Phommachanh frail because of his height. Big people get hurt just as often and maybe more. Never seen Leon play. How often has Rose or Gronk been injured?

I think Steven Krajewski proved your point in both the UCF and Vanderbilt games. He’s even said in numerous interviews he prepares every day like he’s the starter. That was even confirmed by Coach Spanos and Jay Rose. Hope Spanos can put a package for him. Good luck this week gentlemen.
