I recently graduated UConn's MBA program but I haven't tossed my ID yet and would sure love to keep attending games as a student. (Don't judge me gramps Ill have plenty of years to pay top dollar too.) The thing is, I understand there are new IDs with the new logo. The question is, did the school push new IDs to all students or just new students. Are they swiping them at events like football games or just checking that you have them. And lastly, no return of validation stickers correct?

Thanks for your help.

Nope I'm a freshman so I got a new one, but all the upperclassmen I've seen still have their Ids from last year. And when I go to the football, games, they didn't check Ids, if I recall correctly. They did, however, check student tickets.

Graduated a couple of years ago, but still have my old student ID (and just got Gampel student section tickets). Although, I think this is the last year that will work. I believe I read something a while back that all student tickets will be stored on student ID cards and will then be swiped at the entrance. Not sure if that is still the plan, but would suck if true.

Dangerous thing to do. Tickets have to flow freely between people to deal with scheduling conflicts or it will hurt attendance.

Not sure if it's true. Trying to find the original Daily Campus article I read. Could use a current student's help on this one if they've heard any rumblings on this.

Do they check ID to make sure you are a student if you try to use a Student ticket? Friend currently attends UConn and is offering to give me the student tickets he wont use, want to make sure that they'll work for me without a Student ID though.

I graduated in '09, went to the UConn/Michigan football with a student ticket and they didn't even swipe my ID. No problem.

agreed, but probably trying to combat the people who enter the ticket lottery with the sole purpose of selling their full sheet of tickets for a huge mark-up. Maybe they can allow up to 3 single ticket transfers or something like that.

Graduated 2010. Bought gampel student season tickets. They've never scanned IDs at the entrance, only scan the ticket. Hopefully that stays the same

Yeah, same thing for me here. I bought Gampel student season tickets and went to the Concordia game. The only different thing that I noticed was that they don't check your ID at the entrance anymore, which I remember them doing when I was a student. They checked my ID before I entered the student section. No scanning/swiping IDs.

Might have only done that because it was an exhibition... we'll see.

Buying a set of marked-up student section tickets is still cheaper than buying single game general seat tickets (and probably worse seats too)

Agreed. Figure I'd spend as much money or more as I did on the marked up student tickets than I would if I tried to buy single game tickets to just the Louisville and Florida games. I've been holding on to my student ID and trying to milk it for everything it's worth.

I'm on my 8th or 9th season as a "student" between undergrad grad and not giving up without a fight. I pledge to the yard this is my last year doing it. It's getting creepy.

Do they check for an ID when you go into the game?

I did this for 2 years after graduation... it was great... I did have to buy a sticker from a current student each year though (not sure if they still do stickers, but back then they had a new sticker on the back of the card to show that you were an active student each semester).

I'm currently a sophomore, and the process to get into the games (football and basketball so far) has not changed at all. They simply look at your student ID and scan the ticket. If you try to enter when it is the most busy with students entering, I have found they rarely check for IDs at that point.

Also, as mentioned before, only the incoming freshmen received the new logo IDs. Your ID from last year should work fine.
