What happens to teams who don't win? Do they just all fly home, or do they stay to watch.

What happens to, for example, all the Cal fans or ND fans who bought tix for everything? What about their plane tix? Do airlines do some sort of special deal? What about their hotels? Or once you buy a package, do you stay for the duration, even if your guys lose?

The Cal WBB team returned to Bizzerkely today. There were tweets to meet the team outside their arena about 2.45pm PDT. I would think many fans would stay there. I would.

Some fans will try to sell their tix and pay to move up their flights. Otherwise theyre stuck. But they're stuck in New Orleans. Poor them.

So will attendance be low for the champ game as a result?

If I am not mistaken the tickets are sold. They are non-refundable. Therefore people might sell their tickets to people who want to go and see the game... some might even sell at a discounted rate if they really wanted to go home. That being said. The attendance will reflect the number sold not the number sitting. I used to work for a theatre, and that is how we did the numbers. Based on seats sold not people who walked in.

Why? This happens every year.

I can't imagine there were too many cal fans there in the first place. The concern would be if folks think it won't be a good game and thus don't demand tix.

I am sure we know. Didn't this happen to UConn the last two years? I know the team came back and did not stay for the Championship game.

Fans all came back too? I've never been...but everytime I think about it, I wonder about all this stuff. Guess that means I'll never go...

I can't give a 100% answer, but for the fans that buy their tickets through the school, they might not be on the total hook. I did attend all RU NCAA except the Ruston games (lost to eventual champion Texas A&M in 2nd round). In the more recent cases (sub-regional and regional), you were only given tickets to the first game, and the remaining tickets were turned back in to the NCAA for use of the schools that had advanced. Or, you could state to the school rep that you planned to attend (even if RU lost), in which case you could get your tickets to the next round on-site regardless.
