With eight CT division one teams would it be viable to have an annual CT MTE?

Not sure if it would work scheduling wise as MAAC teams Fairfield, Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart and NEC teams New Haven and CCSU probably wouldn't want to play conference foes before conference play starts.

Just an idea.......................

I count seven teams. Hartford isn't D1 anymomre.

The other CT teams aside from UConn and Yale are not at that level, and the other five are either in the MAAC (Sacred Heart, QU, Fairfield) or NEC (CCSU, New Haven), so there's a lot of cross-conference there too. Just not realistic, IMO.

I've got a solution. Maybe they can have a CT MTE for all of the other Connecticut teams in October/November where the winner earns the right to play UConn in either Bridgeport or Mohegan in December during Xmas break. That way it ensures that UConn gets a team with at least a few wins under their belt to ensure it isn't a complete SOS killer--and it counts as a Neutral site game for us. And then with the in-state connection, we might get to play in front of more than 5k fans during Xmas break in-state without using up a home game slot.

According to Storrs Central the three schools we just played were our MTE.

Correct. You know more than Donny Marshall did last night. 😀

While all three of UConn's games will be held either on campus at Gampel Pavilion or at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, the MTE is organized by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Facing a series of fairly overmatched opponents, UConn paid a fee of $305,000 to the Basketball Hall of Fame, according to a Letter of Agreement between the two parties. In turn, the Basketball Hall of Fame was obligated to pay the game opponents, while UConn is responsible for paying arena staff and game officials for its three home games.
