Saw the game last night, New Canaan was the better team, I thought, but kept shooting themselves in the foot. I'm surprised Summers lasted the whole game the way New Canaan kept pounding him.

You nail it @JMick....NC commits a ton of pass interference/unsportsmanlike penalties, last night they definitely hurt them.

Whether or not it was due to NC mistakes or poor play I felt they were fortunate to only be down 24-7 at the half. SJ had 2-3 more scoring opportunities/good field position in the first half. I'm glad it went like it did though. Entertaining game.

St Joe's in S is almost as pathetic as capital prep playing in the CSC. The difference is that St Joe's can't control their playoff division. Cap prep could easily ask to join the CCC.

The CIAC really needs to move to the district model and then play with the numbers for schools of choice. It also makes no sense when a Class M school plays games against L or LL teams in the regular season and then plays other M schools in the playoffs. If you're playing in the S,M,L, or LL playoffs you should be playing the same size schools in the regular season too

I haven't been a fan of it in the past but it may be time to revisit a parochial/private school division. They (CIAC) carve out the Preps - it may be time.

Need to work around travel logistic issues even in a state the size of CT but that has become less of an issue w/ conference blending over the years.

it's always hard to tell how good Ansonia is since the NVL went to crap. Some years they deserve their top 5 rankings and other years they shouldn't even be in the top 10. I'm glad class S is strong this year so we get to find out.

I think their consistency keeps the in the top 10 conversation (and the fact that they scrimmage SCC D1 schools and usually show well) but there are some years when even I question their ranking.

The problem is that their consistency lately hasn't been because they're that good, it's because the NVL is straight up terrible. If they were doing this in even a decent league like the SWC or CCC it'd be different.

Judging them against their NVL foes is silly. Ansonia hasn't lost a league game since Thanksgiving 2010. You really have to judge them independently, which is hard to do. Since you mentioned the SWC and CCC, Ansonia has faced teams from both leagues (usually in the playoffs) and faired rather well. So, I don't think judging them against those leagues is fair either because they've beat them far more then they've lost. The only real way to judge how good they are is in the playoffs against the "top" teams from other leagues. Historically, they've been pretty good in those games.
