Crystal moving up the assist lists

Congrats to Crystal! She has 196 assists so far this season. That is the most ever by a UConn junior. Moriah had the old record of 191. (Diana and Moriah had 208 and 195, respectively, as sophomores.)

In terms of the all-time single-season list, irrespective of class, Crystal is now 6th. Here is the list of the top 5:

Sue 231
Jen 222
Dee 208
Moriah 204
Renee 199

If we play enough games, Crystal has a good shot at Sue's mark. She also has a very good chance to surpass Moriah's career record next year.

With the improvement of ONO in the post, expect even more assists of the "feed it to the big girl variety" as well as better pressure defense by Crystal since she will be able to gamble a bit more.

Also impressive, Crystal has steadily improved her A/TO ratio every season while substantially increasing her assist totals. Her freshman year she had 114 assists with an impressive A/TO ratio slightly over 2. Last year Crystal had 146 assists while increasing her A/TO to almost 3. This year, as you point out, Crystal has 196 assists and an A/TO ratio of 3.25.

Crystal is also an honor roll student. Maybe next year she’ll pull a 4.0 both in the classroom and on the court.

Watching Crystal play I had the thought that, with the possible exception of Bird, she has more control of the team than any other UConn point guard. Even when she doesn’t have the ball she is directing players to positions on the court. She is an outstanding point guard and coach on the floor.

As much as I love both Pheesa and KLS, I think CD is the most important cog in UConn's lineup. Replacing her will be even more critical for Geno than replacing his two senior A-A's.

Agree on the importance of CD and wish Geno had had more time to give her a rest the past 3 games. Seemed a bit beat up and tired (hurt?) the past two.

She'll get almost two weeks to rest up before the Big Dance.

IMHO Crystal Dangerfield will be named an All-American on the WBCA 12 player list at the end of the season!
UCONN will have 3 AA's this season! KLS & Pheesa are shoe-ins on any AA list and Crystal Dangerfield will make it on the WCA list!
She is one of the top 2 or 3 PG's in WCBB this season on both sides of the ball! Her leadership skills are top notch also!

I believe it's a 10-player team. I hope she makes it, but she may come up a little short, no pun intended. Next year, with Young and Ionescu possibly in the pros, Crystal has a shot at NPOY.

After tonight, Crystal has 202 assists on the season and has passed Renee's best. She is now 5th alone for a single season. She can pass Moriah and possibly the great Taurasi in her next game.

Crystal now has 213 assists on the season and has passed Diana for 3rd most in a season. She needs 9 to tie Jen for 2nd place and 18 to tie Sue Bird for the record. Keep winning and keep dropping dimes!
