Great article. Sounds like Courtney is about as athletic and well rounded as you can get.

Now, Courtney will bring her intelligence and worldliness to UConn, where she’ll look to give the Huskies even more backcourt depth.

“I’m going to attack it with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind,” she said, quoting San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Can't ask for more than that from anyone. Good grief, she sounds like a terrific kid!

Credit to Geno and CD. They sure have a knack in recruiting kids that are great at things other than basketball.

And people are worrying about where the backcourt points are coming from???

Give me a break

What a monster group of kids coming in.

“I can’t wait,” Ekmark said. “It’s such a powerhouse in women’s basketball, and I wanted to go somewhere where I could win national championships. And the fans aren’t too shabby, either.”

no we're not too shabby either....we're just goofy ;)

Very often, when players at a development level (e.g., high school, college or minor leagues) are evaluated by folks who purport to be experts, they cite something like "player comparison." In Courtney's case, I get a good feeling that she may well become very similar to Tricia Liston of Duke.

If so, I'll take it.

Wow, just wow. I can't wait to see her in action. This is going to be GREAT!!!!!

What do you think are the chances that she will request, or be assigned, uniform #34?

I actually expect her to request that.

.-.
Between this piece and the ESPNW one where they were talking about who would win the tournament, she seems very confident. It will be interesting to see how well she carries it over to the court.

If she's the best shooter in her class, and she's on the court with Kaleena, Stewie, Moriah, Morgan, Saniya, et al., YIKES!

And if we add Lou the following year!!

When Maya left, we had a big void. Our top incoming recruit who also wore #23 was the best possible player to soften the impact of losing an iconic player. We may forget, but Geno called Kaleena "Baby Jesus." Kaleena will take her great shot and overall game to the WNBA in another year. Who best to "replace" her? How about Katie Lou Samuelson, another shooter extraordinaire.

My thoughts exactly!! We have four fantastic recruits coming in and I'm willing to bet that Kia and Courtney would start at 99% of the Div I schools as freshmen. Less than 6 months to First Night-how will I make it til then????

Not just talent, but sounds like a lot of maturity coming in between Courtney and Kia.

Sounds like an 'All-American girl'. Really smart, pretty, motivated, can shoot hoops... what more could anyone ask for? Wonder if she can sing and dance? :)

PAP: you're not married???

SON: Good comment - sounds like ALOT of maturity....especially encouraging these days.

HUSK: re-runs of taped games? (We have some.)

She's Liston but a better shooter. Far better. And she's a phenomenal kid. You will never, ever hear her doing anything out of line. She will be an A+ in character the minute she sets foot on campus.

She'll be an outstanding teammate too.

Her looks kind of remind me of a young Shea.If she is anything like Shea was, minus the injuries,we have coming in one superb young lady!

Liston shot 48% from 3 last year. Can Ekmark shoot 50+% from 3. That's what it would take to be "far better" than Liston.

I think "as good" as Liston in terms of shooting is a huge, huge asset to any program.

I guess I should have clarified. Her percentage will be just as good but he range is deeper. Might seem far fetched but she can get a step or two behind the arc with a solid percentage.

Far Better ?? How about you let her play a few years in college before you make that assertion.
